Creature Animation Modification Needed

I am hoping that there is someone who is willing/capable of helping me with a modification to Lingarn's animated silt strider mesh. I am using a modified version of that for the real-time silt strider mod, but it is presenting a serious problem. As the strider walks, it has a very pronounced vertical movement to the body. The scripts that make the riding possible generally keep the player at a set Z position based upon the Z position of the strider. As the "cockpit" portion moves up and down due to the animation, the player ends up floating above or moving into the body of the strider.

What I am hoping for is to have it modified so that only the legs move back and forth. I'm not an animator, but after watching the animation a lot, I don't think it would too difficult for someone who knows what they are doing. I have a modified version of this mesh. Arcimaestro Anteres was kind and generous enough to make a mesh with an attached driver (that is the single thing that is finally making it possible for me to complete this mod after all these years!) I have utilized my meager Nifskope abilities to take the cockpit and driver from that mesh and weld it to the animated strider model.

So, is there anyone who could do a poor Fligg a favor? :icecream:

TR has a siltstrider that pretty much moves in the way you describe. No vertical movement atall.
Afaik people are allowed to use the TR-meshes in their own mods.

How badly do you want to see Strider Riding completed?

Actually though this is so brill, it's was what got me into morrowind again- that youtube vid. I thought it looked fine on that.

Oh right, the help. Drinae earlier told me to learn to animate, so I shall. But for now all I can help you with is the anything with the mesh, anything at all. Even something which transcends the Skope of dear old nifskope :wink_smile:

Nah, I'm summoned through the use of a system of arthiritic, obese messenger pigeons instead (only mod gods get the lamps). Needless to say, I'm usually a [censored] to contact.

Do you need the z-position animation removing in general? Or just on the walking and running animations?

In any case, like you said, it should be easy, I can do it if you want, the animation will look slightly crapper, but that's unavoidable, and not a massive problem to be fair.

I'd go this route, it's already been done. Why do it again? It's free to be used, I already have it unpacked if you want me to send it to you Fliggerty.

It has NO z-axis movement during its walking or idle animation. Only in it's death animation.

Well, use theirs if it'll do the job, if not, I've looked at the silt strider, should be a 5 minute job if editing the idle stance is alright with you.

Either way's fine with me, I just want to see this finished and in game. :foodndrink:

The permissions in the TR readmes include their strider as one that cannot be used in other projects. :shrug:

I want to thank both Dirnae and Arcimaestro Anteres for offering to create these animations. That's the issue I've had with this community from day one...I can't ever get a single person to help me out! :lmao: There's always more than one, then I have to sort out which offer to accept. :laugh:

They are a resource. Full details at the end of the Wildlife ReadMe.
(can't seem to locate an original download link for the mod)

I can't really remember what type of animations they have, but they do look good in-game.

Thanks Pluto, I appreciate it. I do have Lingarn's animation, but they are presenting a problem with keeping the player in sync with the strider's motion.
