[WIPz] Solstheim Alternnate Begining

Post » Fri Oct 29, 2010 3:22 pm

Hey there,

alongside Into Oblivion, The Forgotten Halls and Ashes of Apocolypse patch I've decided to go back to some of my old mods and "clean them up abit"

First one to get this is http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=7784

Changes coming up in version 3:

- Fixing Ship doors
- Fixing door marker in lower level of ship
- Balancing out the starting equipment
- Further spelling mistakes fixed
- expanded Dialogue for Godric the Hermit.

POSSIBLE QUEST:

The dead wont stay dead.

The hermit who healed you lives in a tomb and has sealed off the lower level as recently the dead have been coming back to life! He asks to to dispatch of them!

I have also expanded the dialogue for Godric (the hermit).

He will now disscuse the following topics with the player:

- Bears
- Wolves
- werewolves
- Beserkers
- Spriggans
- Solsthiem

Heres some examples of the dialogue:

New greeting when you talk to Godric a second time:

Hail %PCName, I see your back on your feet. Let me know if you need anything. I have limited stock and I charge a small fee. It may be worth stocking up on supplies Solsthiem is full of dangeous creatures with bears and wolves being the most common. There is are also the Spriggans to watch out for, and if your extremly unlucky or if the gods hate you then you may chance upon werewolves

Solsthiem

Solsthiem, thats the island you are on now. It is an inhospitable place, to those who are not use to the wild ways of nature. Bears, wolves, and other creatures wander it cold wasteland. Then there are the beserkers and witches to watch out for. But then with the secrets this island holds, who wouldnt brave such foes for a chance at glory?

Werewolves

I believe that they exist, mostly in stories and tales told around a camp fire, designed to scare young children from venturing into the wild. But sometimes, when the night sky is clear and the moon is full, I hear strange howls carried on the wind. Howls that seem like no wolf that I have ever heard. It is on those nights that I recall those stories meant to frighten children.

hehe, now that I have posted some of the dialogue on here I have noticed some spelling and grammer mistakes! So time to fix those in the CS

Shouldn't the name be Solstheim Alternate Beginning instead of Alternnate Begining? Also I will probably try this out since I hate the prison ship at the start of the game.

hehe yes it should be.

I am glad that you might try it. Its not as good as some of the chargens out there but it does beat the prison ship!

Not as good? Men, I never play without this mod! I love to begin at the barrow, and while using NOM, I have to find food, and make my way to Frostmoth, it's amazing!

Fixed for you. And the first sentence of 'Werewolves' doesn't make any sense, I don't know what you're trying to suggest.

Sorry. I couldn't sit and read those mistakes.

hmmm, well he is trying to say that he believes that werewolves exist in stories. But sometimes, on a clear night, when he hears an unkown howl, he thinks otherwise....

If something is only in stories it doesn't exist. I think this would be better:

Werewolves

Werewolves don't exist, they're just for stories told around a camp fire, or tales designed to scare young children from venturing into the wild. But sometimes, when the night sky is clear and the moon is full, I hear strange howls carried on the wind. Howls that sound like no wolf that I've ever heard. It is on those nights that I recall those stories.

ah i see! yes that reads much better.

I knew what it meant, but what I mean and what other people read are two diffent things!

Thanks for doing this :)

Hail %PCName, I see you're back on your feet. Let me know if you need anything; I have limited stock and I charge a small fee. It may be worth stocking up on supplies because Solsthiem is full of dangerous creatures - with bears and wolves being the most common. There are also the Spriggans to watch out for. And if you're extremely unlucky, or if the gods hate you, you may chance upon werewolves.

Solsthiem

Solsthiem, thats the island you are on now. It is an inhospitable place to those who are not used to the wild ways of nature. Bears, wolves, and other creatures wander its cold wasteland. Then there are the berserkers and witches to watch out for. But what with the secrets this island holds, who wouldn't brave such foes for a chance at glory? If you're thinking about chasing glory yourself, I won't try to stop you.

Werewolves

They exist only in stories and tales told around a camp fire to scare young children from venturing into the wild. But sometimes, when the night sky is clear and the moon is full, I hear strange howls carried on the wind. Howls that seem like no wolf that I have ever heard. It is on those nights that I recall those stories.

These are only my suggestions, use or not as is your want. :)

Solsthiem, that's the island you are on now. It is an inhospitable place to those who are not used to the wild ways of nature. Bears, wolves, and other creatures wander its cold wasteland. Then there are the berserkers and witches to watch out for. But what with the secrets this island holds, who wouldn't brave such foes for a chance at glory? Yeah, that is a bit better. I would replace 'seem' in werewolves with 'sound'. Plus bolded fixes.

well thats it, all patched up, just gonna test it before I upload it :)

Heres what is fixed:

- Balanced the starting loot ( i.e starting dagger is no longer worth 1000 gold.)
- Added in more "weapons of choice" for those that dont want short blade. You can find an axe and crossbow within the tomb.
- Added another rat to the entrance to fit the dialogue that Godric gives you about the vermin coming in.
- Prevented the rats from respawning
- Added more clutter to the tomb to make it feel more "lived" in.
- Godric has new dalogue on various topics: bears, wolves, spriggans, werewolves, berserkers, draugr, solstheim and mead.
- Godric now also sells mead
- Godric now sells helath potions, resist disease potions and resist frost potions
- Fixed all the doors with the imperial shipwreck. They should now work as inteneded

I am also thinking of making killing the rats a quest which godric can reward the player for killing.

What do you think?

Did Godric perform some botched surgery on the poor unsuspecting shipwrecked PC? ;)
