.. that you could build your own town or settlement in any of the upcoming new Fallouts?

I think it would be awesome if you could pick a building or an area to start a town.

You could invite whoever you wanted in to your town. Pick from certain doctors, suppliers, security, booze providers.

Maybe you could also start your own caravan.

I have been playing too much F3.

What do you think?

It does not really fit into fallout. If they can find away to implement it into the game then it would be interesting. I can see a character run for mayor of a town. Buy a business like you could in fallout 2 with the mines. Having your character spend most of his/her time building a town or run a business seems dual. If you were just the boss in name only and others did all the work. Then that would be cool. Investing into some town or business so you can make money that way would be good as well.

Players building their own towns doesn't seem to fit into the Fallout world, IMO. (Yes, I know FO3 doesn't fit into the FO world either)

I can see claiming a cave or abandoned gas station as your own, but having a town with doctors and what not is kind of stretching it.

I'm afraid I agree with the other Posters... Fallout is very much a narrative game, its akin to reading a book or watching a movie.

Thats not to say and after-the-bomb God game/City Builder/Civ clone wouldnt work, just that it wouldnt really be playing to fallout's strengths.

A Fallout building game, similar to either Imperialism or Victoria: An Empire Under the Sun would work a bit better with Fallout's setting. Plus, there was also an unsuccessful attempt to convert Fallout to Civilization style gameplay.

I wouldn't mind it. Actually, you could create your town in Van Buren, the canceled FO3 by Black Isle.

I would LOVE an isometric turn based fallout game with a Neverwinter Nights-style editor.

That way we can have as many old-timey Fallout games as we care to make.

I mean, Fo2 already has modding tools but they are so restrictive and difficult it's hardly worth it.
