If by "most of the people" you mean kids who play Halo, then yes.
Halo books have made and yes ive read them. Also i would read lots of books, but understanding some take a while to read when you gotta work. Isn't life great you graduate from school, then college, then work. :prod:

If there were books out I would read it. I got a large collection of books and they are a good thing to pass the time when in bed but not tired enough to sleep.

If there was merchandise out I would get it as well, I am waiting for a reply from Valve if their going to update the year on their Black Mesa & Aperature Science parking permit stickers. Might even get the coffee mugs as well, having things like that is a good way to make money and put towards creating the games. Not sure what fallout could do, I can buy those 1950`s style "fallout shelter" signs from the 1950`s for a dime a dozen so they couldnt do that, They could do the bobble head dolls but they offered that in the metal lunch box for the collectors edition. Only thing I could see is maybe tshirts, mouse pads, maybe high quality prints to frame, and books. Action figures/toys would work but the only way I would get one is if they had a high quality diecast 1:18 scale nuclear powered car, the Corvega offered. I would get that for sure.

While I'd love little things like action figures or bobbleheads, when I said tie-ins I was mostly thinking of ways to expand the fallout storyline (books, tabletops, and maybe if the franchise gets bigger, films or tv shows). Really, I'm sure if Bethesda both had the ability to make them (again, not sure if there are any rights problems with Interplay) and the demand (which I hope this thread has demonstrated) for them, they'll eventually come, and as long as they fall into the hands of a good writer, I'm sure the storyline will be benefited by it.

True, I would more than likely go for any spin off books written about the subject long as those stories would be considered fact and be reflected in future games.

As far as Interplay goes I dont know last game I had by Interplay/Xatrix was the "Redneck Rampage" series and the "redneck hunting" pc game. Other than that I dont really know how interplay does things.

But yea I hope this does point out that there would be a market for books. Hell a tv show I would get if they offered it on DVD like other tv show seasons where people can just buy them.

As said by others, so long as the writer is decent and the book, I'd love to see that sort of thing. :) While I'd probably not buy the action figures, being able to see what might have happened in other parts of the US(or world) would be interesting. Half of the fun to Fallout to me is the aspect of the alternate universe if the 'Great War'(as it's called in the Fallout universe) had occurred, and then learning what it had caused in some place or other. Especially since no place has been impacted in the exact same way another has.

Another possible perk to these tie-ins happening is maybe learning some more about what happened outside the US. There's almost no information on what happened in those areas. Pretty much all I remember is hearing about the Resource Wars, something about Europe going into a worse state than what the US ended up in, and that in the Great War most of the nuclear weapons set off(all were set off, apparently)mainly came from Russia, China, and the US.

I might not know something, but even if I don't-that's not a lot of knowledge.

From what I understand all of europe turned into "bickering" nation states and was "fighting" among themselves. The UN was disbanded and went to a "everyone for themself" route. Red China invaded alaska and proclaimed the oil reserves and oil pipeline for china, the US annexed Canada and then invaded Alaska and eventually threw them out. After that the nuclear bombs started raining down. I would say its safe to assume that the US destoryed China just as bad as China got the US that is if the US had equal number of nukes.

But I would like to find out more about what happened to the other nations, would also like to know what happened to all the chinese sleeper agents in the US. I also have always wondered if the US ever rounded up the chinese citizens and put them in detention camps like happend with the Japanese during WWII. Considering what took place in FO3 in DC and in PLO I dont think that was ever implimented.

Oh, right, I forgot about that. Though I didn't know about that one part on Europe.

That is an interesting point on the Chinese citizens, but yeah I doubt it really happened. I would expect Chinese citizens of the US were treated more badly, since that tends to happen to a certain group(or groups) of people if they are somehow related to a nation the US is at war with, but if they had really been gathered up into detention camps I would think that bit of information would have been learned by now. It just seems to important to just ignore after all the Fallout games. I don't mean it would have necessarily made a large, actual impact on the game-but a reference would have been likely by now...I would think.

If there was ever a Fallout tie-in, though, it could be very interesting from a Chinese/Chinese-American point of view though. Considering that China and the US were particularly bitter with each other before the Great War, and probably some time after.

Not saying I would read it, but it would definitely be a revenue maker. Having more/varied revenue to support game making would be the best IMHO.

This isn't "Keynesian Dogma 101". Not everything that's profitable is good.

At least in the post-war world, Chinese or Asian-Americans don't seem to face too much prejudice, seeing the high social status the Chengs enjoyed at Tenpenny Tower and Dr. Li heading Rivet City.

....Well....before the Great War?

Though that seems to be stretching it a bit....Still, a pre-War tie-in could be interesting, maybe?

I remember hearing some consideration to make a Fallout spin-off in Europe, possibly during the Resource Wars. Either that or after the Great War. I can't remember exactly, but it was just another thing I read on the Vault wiki.

When I created this topic, the two ideas I had were for a Fallout novel set in New York (I'm biased- I'm a New Yorker) and for one set in Europe dealing with an interesting return to classical-style history (this was before I found out about Caesar's Legion). Imagine a fallout game/novel set around the Mediterranean sea?

New York could actually be an interesting idea. It's known for cultural diversity and generally when I think of New York I think of a 'bustling city.' Of course, I've never been there, so I'm fairly ignorant about it in all honesty. Still, I would think it might have been pretty hard, especially considering it's on the coast. (The coasts were hit the hardest by the nuclear bombs, weren't they?)

Plus-the Liberty of Statue, what happened to it?

Personally I'd love to hear about Europe the most, I'm not quite sure why. Just sounds very possibly interesting, I suppose.

The Mediterranean Sea could be interesting though.

I like the idea of a book. "Devil in the White City" focused on an entire world's fair being constructed, while also focusing on a murderer in Chicago. Maybe a Fallout book can detail the re-emergence of society, while simultaneously following another wanderer?

Yeah, and like Washington and LA, New York would've probably received a direct nuke. The main thing that interests me about New York- but would also maybe go against the theme of Fallout, is that it's always been a more socially liberal city. Who knows, maybe it was chock-full of beatniks in the fallout 'verse.

That would be cool as long as it's based on lore and not on the game itself like some other movies based on games.

Whilst sitting here thinking about this thread i've got an idea regarding Collectable Action Figures. As collectors may know, figures are released in "series" or "waves".
For the purpose of this thread i'll use Fallout 3 and a series of 5 figures per set B) Each figure stands 6" except Supermutants and Deathclaws which are 7/8"

Series 1
#Vault 101 character, #Raider Male, #Brotherhood of Steel Paladin, #Enclave Officer, #Mr Handy

Series 2
#Supermutant, #Raider Female, #Brotherhood Scribe, #Enclave Hellfire guy, #Deathclaw

Series 3
#Protectron, #Centaur, Enclave Scientist, #Feral Goul Roamer/Reaver, #Supermutant Behemoth

Series 4
#Underworld Goul, #Rivet City Security, #Wasteland Settler, #Brahmin Caravan, #Goul Glowing One

Series 5
#Talon Company Merc, #Lone Wanderer, #Brotherhood Outcast, #Chinese Remnant, #Slave

Rare Figures *1 per case* (no case will contain 2 rare character figures)
#Star Paladin Cross, #Fawkes, #Cheron, #Three Dog, #Elder Lyons, #Sarah Lyons, #James, #Dr Li, #Lucas Simm, #Moriarty, #Riley's Ranger, #Moira Brown, #Al Tenpenny

Ultra Rare *1 per 50 case*
#Liberty Prime

Just an idea i'm throwing around. Figures don't necessarily have to be in the above order but you get the idea B) Bethesda could make a good return on this merchandise. If the figure sets proved profitable they could re-release as Twin Packs too.

Yeah, I would definitely buy it. I am starting to like this trend of novels that give background to game universes that I like. Bought Infernal City, plus both Mass Effect and both Dragon Age novels.
