BallOfFire's Morrowind Modlist

So I reinstalled Morrowind a couple of days ago and am at the moment using this page as a guideline to upgrade Morrowind, looking for mods elsewhere to, but I can't find a timestamp on the list so I don't know whether it's outdated or not. So are there any mods made since that list was made to include, or are there better options than those on the list.

Looks pretty up to date. Except Connary's mods are not available anymore, and the Text Patch is very outdated.
The Unofficial Patch has been updated, and is now the http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=7347

The list is missing a lot of good stuff, but it seems unfinished, and is of course just one player's opinion.

Luckily' I got most of Connary's textures a while ago when they were still on :) But I hope he releases his compendium soon...
Any other mods that aren't on the list which you consider essential?

Most people use a lighting mod.
I prefer Illuminated Windows, but there's also The Lighting Mod and Morrowind Relighted.

I wrote some guides to help with some of the more difficult "infrastructural" mod decisions not covered much elsewhere you may find helpful -- I have the "hub" guide linked in my sig.

Yup, found those, I was already looking through those, but with never having modded Morrowind it's going to take me while to get though all it :) Good work on those guides by the way

Be sure to get http://wrye.ufrealms.net/Wrye%20Mash.html if you want to have a happy/healthy game :P
Looks confusing, but it's user friendly and essential.

Quick question about this, is it no longer necessary or is there a better mod to replace this?

The Patch Project should cover everything it does, and more.

I'm thinking of putting a big note at the beginning of the main guide telling people to use Wrye Mash. I cannot believe how much easier it makes everything. Especially the installers feature. I'd definitely consider it essential. As soon as someone comes up with a more flexible and reliable object-merging function (a la TESTool right now), we'll be in a new golden age. :)

One more thing, I found this page:

http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=1037224&hl=%5Ccomprehensive+guide%5C

There doesn't seem to be one big overhaul like FCOM in Oblivion and,

http://btb2.free.fr/morrowind.html
http://ballofflame.googlepages.com/balloffire%27smorrowindmodlist

both give different oppinions on which is the best overhaul, the first goes for Wakim's Game Improvements in combination with Economy Adjuster and Morrowind Advanced, while the latter just goes for Adventurers. Any thoughts on which one I should try out first?

Without giving quality comparison opinions (not that I shouldn't, I just don't have enough info to base that kind of opinion on), I can tell you that Adventurers touches a lot more actual objects. This will generally make it more conflict prone. I also seem to remember reading that it conflicts with MCA, if you ever want to try that out it may be worth noting. Personally I use a combination of tweaks including some parts of the modular W.G.I., Alaisagae's armor and weapon balance, etc. I think that you can personalize your game more by using multiple mods that tweak aspects of the game rather than whole-cloth overhaul mods.

I'd recommend Morrowind Advanced, as well as Piratelords Creatures X, and Piratelord's economy mod as well if you go for the modular tweaking approach. Of course make sure you're using Wrye Mash's leveled lists merger feature and TESTool for merging objects (carefully with an eye on load order and awareness of what's getting merged). Don't use TESTool for anything else really, there are better tools for everything else it does (No offense to Ghostwheel, who did a great job making it - it's just outdated nowadays. Rather it's a testament to it's quality that it's still the best tool for even one thing).

That's because Morrowind isn't completely broken ;) unlike OB.

Thanks, will try those out

That's your opinion :P I like Oblivion, though I modded it extensively now, but still I liked it from the start

Be also sure to use the http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=1041353 (MCP) from Hrnchamd.
It fixes several things which the UMP/MPP does't fix, like merchants starting to give lower ratings for items when your personality improves or that merchants wear the armor or clothes that you sell them. Also take care of the save game corruption, making it saver to add or delete mods and several more fixes.
So do not only use Mash for a healthy game, but also MCP.

That's what nGCD is for :) Combined with a lot of other mods, I think Oblivion will stay on my pc for a while still

That was my point, mods are needed to fix OB.
Vanilla MW is less broken than Vanilla OB.

anyways... off topic.

You didn't have to bump an almost year old thread to say something like that.

Return to III - Morrowind
