Being paralized.

Post » Tue Nov 02, 2010 5:00 pm

Ok so you are being paralized by an enemy. When you fall should it be shown first person or 3rd person?

With first person it would be scary since you can't move you will see the enemy coming towards you, quick! And you can't do a thing to stop him/her/it :o

With 3rd person it will be shown from above a little bit like Oblivion.

Oh and maybe when it is first person it will show some fuzziness on your screen.

I think it should display from whatever view you're using at the time.

I enjoyed in Oblivion that it switched to third person so I could see my character limply flop over, but the novelty of that has passed and now I would just like it to keep me in whatever view I'm in.

Agree with this. The same goes for mounting, sitting down and so on.

The game should always keep you in first person when you're playing that way. No forcing third person when mounting a horse or getting knocked over or paralyzed or whatever. Staying in first person as you're knocked around with full-body viewing is wicked (one of the better things to happen in Dark Messiah).

If you use first person, then first person; if third person, then third person.

i think it should view the perspective of how you were when you were paralized.

You should put an option for both, because I would vote that. If you are playing in 1st person and get paralyzed, then you should fall in 1st person and not be able to access your inventory. Same thing for 3rd person. You should fall and not be able to do anything until the spell wears off.

I've always thought it'd be cool to be naturally paralyzed, because then you'd be paralyzed for life and that'd mean death or unless someone could heal you. But that's for another discussion.

You are kind of sadistic aren't you? O.o

I don't know how to explain this but if it is in 1st person then the camera needs to point in the direction your head faces. Like if you were paralyzed in 3rd person and your body was laying on it's side then the 1st person view should be close to the ground and sideways. If you fell face first you should be looking directly at the ground. On your back then you see the sky. In oblivion it really took away the terror aspect you would get if you were paralyzed by letting you still move the camera.

1st person for absolutely everything. But I want a full model too, not just some arms. I'd also like to be paralyzed only from the neck down, so that I can at least observe what is going on around me.

Doesn't really matter to me. First or third person, Paralysis is rage-worthy either way when you're on the wrong end of it. :swear:

It should show it from whatever perspective you're already playing in.

I prefer 1st person and it can be done in 1st Person as New Vegas proved that when you get knocked down by a Deathclaw. It wouldn't matter to me if it's 1st or 3rd.

I'd like 3rd person so I could see what is going on around me when I'm paralyzed but then again it really doesn't matter. I mean even if you were paralyzed you would still be able to look around.

Still I don't really care whichever one they choose.

Ehm, yeah. When I say 1st person what I really mean is that is shouldn't change. Includes those that already are in 3rd person mode, naturally. Just to make that clear :)

I agree, and I don't see why we shouldn't be able to switch out to third person even if we are in first in case we want to watch us face plant.

Does it really matter?

I thought the question was about the possibility of being killed instantly...
