Retrieving Old Mods From Old Savegames

Post » Wed Nov 03, 2010 2:38 pm

I've come back to Oblivion after a long hiatus and several reformats of my HDD, and I've finally got the game running with all of the mods I'd had previously installed. The problem is that there are just a couple of .esp files that I'd edited myself (minor script changes, etc), and I don't have them now. What I do have is all of my old savegames, some of which used these .esps. Is there some way that I can extract these mods from my old save games?

I appreciate it's a bit of a long shot :)

No. The savegames use the information in the main Oblivion folder, which you have deleted.

If the changes are minor enough, your save-game should be able to work without them, though you'd probably have to clean them first with Wyre Bash.

Nah, it's not a question of getting the savegame to work, I'm trying to rescue the .esp. It's no biggie though, I've got a Word document with the script saved in it. It's a little script that means that NPC vampires burn up if they come out into the sunlight. I was just hoping to avoid having to add the script to each of the NPC vampires in the game by recovering the .esp from when I did it before. Hey ho, I'll just put aside a little time to get on it :)

Thanks anyway.
