[REQ] (I think) Disabling the automatic reload of weapons

Post » Thu Nov 04, 2010 3:50 am

Hello,

Apologies if this is elsewhere, I searched but did not find.

I'm looking for either a mod or even a console command to disable the automatic reloading of a weapon once its magazine is empty. Personally, I hate automatic reloading (or automatic anything, really), but especially with scoped weapons and the missile launcher/fat man, as the automatic reload usually gets me killed or ruins the strategy I had planned.

Any help would be appreciated!

Seconded. Auto Reload is (EXTREMELY) annoying at some points. Especially when emptying a strong slow to reload weapon. (Even though you can stop it with shotguns and revolvers)

Yup. And even more advanced, make the guns not magically appear with full clip if i deselected them with non-full clip. Only complaint i had about Half-Life 2, BTW :D

Oh I forgot about that! That is really silly also. Speaking of silly, I googled for a fix for ammo switch being permanently bound to 2 - is there a mod to fix it? I remember reading that the upcoming patch will fix that, but... well, that's then, and this is now, know what I mean?

Reloading take like 2 seconds. What could you possible need to do in those 2 seconds that is so important?

Two seconds, and the time it takes to switch to another weapon. It could be just the time it takes to switch to another weapon.

The point is that its annoying, and having no auto-reload would make tactical strikes with the missile launcher, fat man, and grenade rifle much more effective.

Strongly seconded. A mod featuring that change would be much appreciated; the auto-reload seriously screws me up sometimes.

I'd also like to see the 'weapon switch reload' gone (as in, changing a weapon refills its clip), but that's of a lesser priority to me personally.

Definitely needed for those guns that reload at the rate one bullet at a time. Some shotguns I think.

Actually, those are the guns that need this function the least since their reload can be manually cancelled. It's stuff like the Missile Launcher which is in dire need of this feature.

I didn't know that. I just suffered through it every time. How do you cancel its reload btw? Change weapon or just shoot?

Tap fire with any weapon that reloads one bullet at a time (repeaters, revolvers, shotguns ((excepting the single shot, of course))) and it should stop the reload.

I'd like this as well. In fact, I'd like it so I'd have to tap reload for every shell I put into a shotgun - if I only need on more shot and I need it now, Makes me suffer an unnecessary reload. I do not want to have to call J.G. Wentworth over this.

Just for the ability to simulate "this gun is empty, drop it and draw a new one" for times like having a deathclaw or nightkin right up in my face, I'd love to have this... so many times I've wanted to approach a fight a certain way, but haven't been able to because of autoreloading. Would be great to be able to turn it off for those of us who would prefer to play without it.

Exactly! Even in FO3, I liked using the missile launcher as a "first shot/mass-cripple" strike, then switch weapons, but it only works when I had just one missile in my inventory.

BTW, in case anyone reading this thread doesn't know, someone posted a faux-fix for the buggy reloads of 1-shell-at-a-time guns (revolvers, trail carbine, brush gun, hunting shotgun, etc):

Yeah, and with things like the grenade rifle, there are even more possible scenarios like that.

Ohh! I wasn't aware of that. Very groovy!

My current character is an energy weapons user, so not really impacted by it... rumor has it there is an official patch coming out soon, so will probably wait and see if that fixes the bug at its root. If not, I'll certainly be checking that one out!

I play on hardcoe, with mods that I threw together myself to make guns more accurate and deadly for NPCs and the Player alike. Just ONE second can be the difference between life and a loading screen. lol

Lol. Darn I was to slow. Was looking for this thread to toss up that reload link.

Theres been plenty of times when ive seen the load screen because my gun wants to reload when i want to goto melee with my melee person.

Looks like there going to be extra buzy for those 18 years because its going to be twins!
