How To Make The Caves And Dungeons Darker

Post » Sat Nov 06, 2010 12:00 am

I just bought a 24 " HD 1080p wide screen monitor and changed the screen size to the wide one and now the dungeons are almost to the point where you don't need any light source to see I use All natural weather I read some where where the mods that make dungeons and caves darker aren't compatible with weather mods unless they say they are. I also dropped the brightness down. and suggestions on how to make the game inside dungeons and caves darker again

http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=8944 might work, it removes ambient light from caves/ayelid ruins. Don't know if that would cause conflicts though.

http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=8802 does just what you want. (though I'm not sure if it will conflict...)

I also recommend http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=16323 so you can turn down the brightness and contrast, etc. to see what makes the dungeons look best. Be warned, its been known to cause occasional crashes...

Can't imagine what All Natural should do inside a dungeon despite maybe adding a sound effect depending on the weather near the entrance. There is no reason to edit the ambient lighting for that mod (which is what the darker dungeons mods do).

EDIT: Unless the 'Real Lights' part of the mod also alters ambient lighting, but then you'd already have darker dungeons. Unless it makes dungeons brighter of course, which would be a bit stupid.

I don't use natural weather but I've never heard of any conflicts; the mod's changes are very simple. There is a good description in the link.

I would think that simply merging the mod into your bashed patch would be the best route to take, then, no worries about conflicts, as the only thing you are getting is the lighting.

Let The Be Darkness + All Natural with Real Lights will make things plenty dark. I have not tried Ambient Dungeons since the dependency on Screen Effects has been removed. I will probably try it again. Try both. They are small mods to install.

I'm just using the options menu...just making it as dark as possible. Luckily, I have some illusion powers, so I can use Moonlight. Otherwise, it would be pretty much pitch black. Of course, I could also use a torch...
