So, i was exploring vault 92 with its mirelurk-ridden goodness, then i came across this violin, i took it, realized it was useless, then i tried to drop it, but it said it was a "Quest related item"

What quest is it?

Agatha's quest. Old woman living alone; house is on the trade route, iirc. She doesn't give you a great reward if you give her the violin, unless you like classical music. If you talk to her, ask about writing down the music she plays, and find her a sheet music book, you can get a not-so-bad weapon.

Mr moderator sir, should this not be in the cheats, hints and spoilers section? :ermm:

Bite your tongue. Having a different radio station is wonderful in the wastes. There's something eerie about being in the middle of a firefight with sad violin music playing in the background. And there's something wonderful, when out in the wastes, when happy violin music plays as the sun comes up. And Blackhawk rocks....

Agathas Song is a very good quest. Has lots of good karma. It gives you a extra cut scene at the end.

And it is a kind and worthwhile thing to give her the violin.

And having another radio station is good.

I did not get the Blackhawk when I did it last because I was close to the end and it was my slightly messed up first time.

I did not see any Agatha cutscene at the end. The only cutscene for my bastion of good character was
Spoiler
the Lincoln Memorial Statue restored.

Unless one of the major mods or the unofficial patch removed it.

You should see a pic of her playing the violin.... kinda looking over someone else's shoulder....

I remember finding the Stradivarious by accident the first time and wondering what that was about. Of course, I didn`t come here to have the plot given away to me because I realised it must have something to do with another quest and I don`t like plots being given away without finding out for myself. In that game I never did find Agatha and forgot about it.

In my next game I DID bump into Agatha and knew what she was talking about. I could`ve gone straight to the place where the violin was but decided to do things the long way. I was really suspicious of Agatha at first because i`m a suspicious kinda guy, I thought, "How is an OLD woman surviving BY HERSELF in a hut and her only protection was maybe some traders that might pass through?"

I had my shotgun in her face the whole while talking to her and it wasn`t until I returned the violin and she didn`t cackle like a witch and jump on a broomstick that I realised that she was probabaly ok after all!
I still don`t understand how she`s surviving by herslf though.

Edit: Oh yea and listening to her music was very nice indeed. Added a surprisingly mature feel to the game.

Well how about that. I've done that quest a number times and didn't know that. There's all sorts of things like that in the game. I just discovered a sewer entrance in Dupont Circle that I never knew existed either.
