I open the Oblivion_v1.2UK.exe and it starts to download the new patch to my Oblivion folder, but when it starts to process oblivion.exe I get patch error and message ''Failure Renaming/Deleting File D:\Oblivion\Oblivion.exe

Because of this error, I can't download OBSE ---> needs oblivion patch v1.2.0416.


So, what should I do, I'm totally confused because I have cd version of the game and I'm using Windows XP.

Make sure that Oblivion.exe isn't set to read-only.

Run the patch as an administrator.

See if either of those help.

Oblivion.exe is not set to read-only and when I tried to run the patch as an administrator I got ''RTPatch Executable has encountered a problem and needs to close.''

That's a puzzler.

Try making a copy of Oblivion.exe, then moving the original out of the Oblivion folder, and renaming the copy to Oblivion.exe again.

Maybe something got stuck with the original. Or, if this fails too, you'll know it's something about the file not the updater.

I assume you've rebooted since you got the error as well? Everyone reboots when Windows goes screwy.

I think that I have myself messed up with this patch thing, I have loaded some mods before this patch v1.2.0416 and also UOP too. I quess that I just need to uninstall all and re-install whole game.

Ok, now I know why I was not able load my patch...I have Comodo internet security and all though I had allowed this patch to access my computer still Comodo didn't allowed to ''rename or delete'' the old oblivion.exe...All I needed to do was just to shut down comodo and then open that patch.

Still I can't use obse_loader...says that I have older version of oblivion than patch v1.2.0416...Back to work.
