Love Hurts

"Will I ever see you again, Laeriel?" , He asked almost pleading.
"I don't know, why won't you come with me Shora? Then we can see each other whenever we want!" She said with a smile.
"Because I'm not like you..." He said "I don't believe in the Divine as you do!"
"The Divine, guide and protect us, they guided you to me!" Her eyes looking expectantly into his.

They pierced his soul, he couldn't move. There were so many feelings and thoughts. Will I ever see her again? Will she remember me? Is this really happening? Does she know how I feel? Shoraedyl embraced her suddenly causing her to gasp, but she returned the embrace. He whispered into her ear and kissed her forehead.

Determined, Shoraedyl spoke, "I will see you agian, I promise... if they guided me to you before they will guide me back."

A tear slid down Laeriel's cheek as Shora turned away and leapt through a church window. He ran through the night. The fog twisted between the trees and the moons were already starting to set, but he kept running. The sun was starting to rise, but he ran onward, still. Laeriel Runethil was leaving for a priory in somewhere in Cyrodiil to learn and worship the Divine. She is as beautiful as she is faithful. The Crusader had traveled through Southpoint recently, telling tales of the Divines and converted many nonbelievers. Laeriel was among many who had lost their way and the Crusader brought them back to the path. He spoke with Shoraedyl many times telling him, "If you do not walk the path of light, then you are in the darkness". To which Shora always responded, "If it means I have to compromise my own morals then I will stay in darkness, I doubt the Nine would want me to betray my heart".

All Shora's life he had been looking for someone like her. Shora could see her face with every tear he blinked away. The face he had dreamed about so often had become a nightmare. All Shora wanted to do was get as far away as possible. He wanted to go with her, but the priests would never allow someone like him near her. To them it would be as if the great benevolent Mara was being visited by the webspinner Mephala. There was nothing left for him in Green Heart, he had applied for guard duty in Haven but he never wanted to be a guard. Being a guard was boring, he needed something more... adventurous. But, one day he would find her, he new in his heart he would...

This is how Shoraedyl began his journey across Tamriel....

Years have passed since that night and it seems the passage of time has had no effect on Shoraedyl. However during these years he has met many people one of which has? a physical dilemma.

Shoraedyl is sitting in the corner of the room he rented at the local inn. Playing with a gold coin he ponders the next job. Candle light glimmers off the coin and sparkles in his eyes. The wind whispers through the cracks in the ceiling. It's winter in Solsthiem, but if you ask anyone there they will say "It's always winter in Solsthiem". The snow falls all around the inn and his mind drifts off to her?

However, a blinding light fills the small room, a sudden gust of wind blows out the candle, and an Altmer appears as the light fades. The tall elf seems distressed and turns to the alerted Bosmer, who already had a dagger in hand.
"We need to run!" the Altmer shouted.
"What do you mean run, Artazon?" Shoraedyl asked.
Worried, Artazon struggled to find the words, "I may have angered the?"
"You didn't?" Shoraedyl stares at Artazon with a mix of awe and anger.
"It's not my fault! She asked me to do a private showing and? In my defense she had ulterior motives!"
"Artazon, you're thinking with the wrong head!"
Slightly ashamed Artazon sighs and starts packing his rucksack.
Shoraedyl stares him down trying to stifle a laugh, "Was she good?"
Artazon smiles a devilish grin, "Well, let's just say it was a hairy situation?"
They both try to hide their laughter, but suddenly a pounding on the door interrupts the pair's laughter.

The pounding gets louder and someone yells, "Artazon you BASTARD! Get out here now! I know you're in there! I told you if you laid a hand on my daughter I would make sure you paid!"
The yelling came from Caius Callorey, the chief share holder in the Raven Rock mining colony. His daughter, a beautiful red headed Breton, always had a fondness for mer especially the High Elves. But Caius was out for blood this time, he brought help. Two Nords accompanied Caius armed with bad attitudes and brass knuckles.

Shoraedyl glanced at the window then at Artazon, they nodded to each other. Artazon threw open the window and jumped. Shoraedyl jumped as well, just as the door was forced open. Caius saw a piece of cloth slip out the window and ran over to the open window. He leaned out just in time to see the pair dart around to the front of the building.
Caius turned to the Nords and shouted angrily, "They're going to the docks cut them off!"

Shoraedyl and Artazon ran through the middle of town, they were the only ones in the town square. During Frostfall, most people stay inside during the evening. The cold bit into their bones with every gust of wind. Shoraedyl stopped running and stood still. A bit confused Artazon followed his lead.

"Why did we stop?" Artazon asked.
Shoraedyl replied, "We're being followed, but that isn't the problem. He is."
He pointed at a rather large Nord who stepped out from an alleyway.
Artazon smiled and shrugged his shoulders, "Don't worry about this, I have him."
The Nord growled and trudged through the snow towards the pair.
Artazon whispered a chant and disappeared into thin air. The Nord was not amused at this magic trick. Artazon charged Nord, but was met with an unpleasant surprise. The Nord threw a punch into the air that seemed to connect with something, as there was a bone cracking pop. A green light revealed an unconscious Altmer lying in the snow.

The Nord started laughing, "For an Altmer you sure are dumb, I could see your foot prints in the snow! Now where is your little friend?"
He looked around, but there was no Bosmer to be found. It seemed like he just disappeared.
The other Nord finally caught up with his partner, "Weren't there two of them?"
"Yeah, but the little tree hugger must have ran away!"
"Ohh well, Caius only wanted this one? Let's go it's getting colder."
The pair picked up the limp Altmer and dragged him through the snow as they departed.

Shoraedyl peeked out from behind a chimney and watched as the Nords took his friend. He pulled a coat made of wolf pelt from his rucksack, slipped it on, and pulled it tight. He jumped from the roof and landed without a sound. The wind whirled snow around him, he adjusted his gauntlets and followed the pair into the quickly setting sun.

"I'll find you one day, but first I need to get my friend out of another hairy situation?"

I'm just trying to entertain and release stress, so just read it and have fun, it's what I do! But if you do have any critiques then just send them to me in a pm.

This is part one of four, but it is currently growing. I'm not really looking for critics because I'm not a writer and my english professors hate me because I am horrible with punctuation and repetitive word choices.

You might have mentioned that earlier. I had a whole page of critique written and now I threw it all away. :swear:

If they actually hate you then those are terrible teachers. But I have a feeling they're simply trying to stress the importance of good grammar and non-repetitve words.

ok I didn't mean they literally hate me, I was over-exaggerating but honestly why is everyone more focused on the second post than the story?

Here's part two

The sun has finally slipped under the horizon; Artazon blinks his eyes into focus. The sky is clear and the stars twinkle with an unearthly beauty. He takes a deep breath, but ropes cut into his golden skin. His brown eyes dart around his surroundings. Artazon is tied to a tree in front of him a fire is burning brightly, embers ascending into the sky before they fizzle out. The two Nords are sleeping on either side of the fire. Flickering flames dance before his eyes and in an instant he’s dreaming.

The grey stone is washed with colorful lights. A teenage Altmer is practicing his magic spells. Life detect, shock, charm, invisibility, mark, recall. These spells were the fiber of his magika training, but he longed for a blade. Staring out a window, he imagines the great swordsmen throughout history. Wielding a sword was far more impressive to him, than learning these… parlor tricks. His dreams of valor and might suddenly evaporated as he felt a tap on his shoulder. As he turns, he sees her smile. Her lips move but he hears no sound… He looks at her and mouths the word “Mother”.

“Wake up”, A Nord slaps Artazon across the face, “We aren’t going to carry you again!”
Artazon blinks his eyes; the sun blinds him momentarily, “What no cuddling?”
“Very funny Elf, but I don’t like the sound of your voice.”

One Nord chants a line and throws a green ball of magik into Artazon’s face. Artazon tries to speak, but his mouth cannot create words. The Nords cut him from the tree and bind his hands together.
“Hey Gerfund gag him so when your spell wears off he can’t chant something and teleport away”
“Sure thing, Hrulf”
Gerfund is about to gag Artazon, when the spell wears off.
“Hey normally I’d like where this was going but I just got out of a rela…” Artazon is cut short by the stale taste of unwashed cloth. Suddenly he is on his feet, lifted by the Nord and shoved forward.
“We have half a days walk before we get to Caius’ estate, you remember the way right?

The trio started to walk through the snow towards a distant pillar of smoke. Caius’ estate was built on top of an ebony mine. His mine happens to be one of the richest mines in all of the empire. Located south of Thormoors Watch, the estate is distant enough from Fort Frostmoth that no guards or patrols know what really goes on there. As far as the East Empire Company knows Caius’ estate is just a piece of property near an untapped ebony mine. Caius has captured and enslaved Rieklings, little blue goblin creatures, and uses them as a labor force to mine the raw ebony. It would be the perfect way to maximize profits, by slave labor and unregulated product, if any of it were legal.

It was mid day by the time the group reached the estate the sun shined through the clouds and the wind blew snow flakes from the trees. Caius was already waiting outside wearing a scowl for the elf.

“Take him to the ‘guest house’ and make him comfortable, but remember he won’t be staying long…” Caius shouted with a laugh.
“Alright sir, Gerfund lets take him down stairs.” Hrulf said nodding to Gerfund.
The Nords dragged the Altmer towards the front door. As they passed by Caius, Artazon spat the gag from his mouth and said to Caius with a smile, “Tell your daughter I said hello!”
Offended and angry Caius shouted, “Shut him up! I will make you suffer elf!”
Hrulf struck the elf in the stomach and continued to drag him. They dragged him through the living room, back through the kitchen, and threw him down a set of stair into a cellar.
Artazon landed on the cold damp dirt face first. Artazon crawled to a corner of the room. He looked so pitiful, curled up in the corner and dirt tainting the golden hue of his skin. For now all Artazon could do is sit and stare into the darkness.

“Mother, what are you doing here?” Artazon asked eagerly.
“You say it as though you don’t want me here, Artazon!” She said smiling
“No I just wasn’t expecting you!” He hugs her deeply “I’ve missed you”
“Well I can’t stay long, but I know you are different from your siblings, they enjoy the gifts that magika can give! However you are interested much less in the study of magika and more into sword play, I am offering you a compromise.”
“What do you mean mother?”
“Simply visualize the blade then let it be.”

VISUALIZE!

The darkness of the cellar disappeared as it was washed in golden light, in Artazon’s hands appeared a small dagger. It seemed to be forged in some volcanic metal and was as black as night. He had a way out of here…

Part 3
"Why in Oblivion do I care?" Shoraedyl thought aloud almost shouting. "Why do I try so hard to find my way back to her if she isn't willing to prove she wants to see me!"
The moon was peaking through the clouds and the wind had died down, but it was still freezing outside. Shoraedyl almost lost the trail three times tonight, because of his personal dilemma.

"I need to be more quiet and more focused?" He spoke to himself sternly.
Thinking to himself, Shoraedyl reasoned, "Well I would be if she would take time to let me know she is thinking of me."
"She's just another girl, Shora, you need to just relax. If she really cared she would let you know, PERIOD! Stories over, you need to find Artazon, focus."

He breathes in a deep lung full of the crisp mountain air and stares at the moon for a few minutes. There were only a few hours until sunrise and he needed to catch up quick. He had enlisted the aid of a wolf to help keep tabs on the thugs who knabbed Artazon.

Wood Elves or Bosmer are known for their uncanny ability to interact with woodland creatures. With just a whisper any Bosmer can take control of any creature found in the forest. The wolf trotted from behind a rock and wined at Shoraedyl. He looked at the wolf and smiled. Shoraedyl opened up a small pouch and removed a piece of jerky. He ripped it in half and tossed one half to the wolf.

"You'll get the other half when we you take me to my friend."
The wolf whined and stared expectantly at Shoraedyl.
"No, we had a deal, now eat your piece before I change my mind!"
The wolf growled at him, then chewed up the piece of jerky.
"Now will you take me there? I'm in a hurry."
A whine came from the wolf as it turned around and trotted off towards the north.

Shoraedyl jogged after the wolf. He was determined to find Artazon, they were partners. Together they have slain vampires, rescued damsels in distress, had said damsels rob them and leave them for dead, and slain the thieving damsels! The duo had an idea, they were going to use the cash from this last job to form an adventuring group to do anything from tomb raiding to v.i.p. protection.

"How long is this wolf going to run?" Shoraedyl thought to himself as he glanced at the sun rising over the eastern horizon. The sun twinkled off the snow and his bright green eyes. Suddenly the wolf stops and whimpers, it looks at Shoraedyl expectantly.
"I don't see them, I'll give you the rest when I see them."
The wolf growled and ran up a hill. When it reached the top it turned and growled again. Shoraedyl followed it up the hill and peered through the bushes. He observed two Nords and an Altmer surrounding a fire. The Altmer was being difficult, annoying his captors. The wolf growled again and pawed at Shoraedyl's food sack. He turned and eyeballed the wolf.

"Ok, so a deal is a deal. Thank you for your help." Shoraedyl pulled the other half of jerky out of his food sack and tossed it to the wolf.

He watched the two Nords bind and gag the High Elf, but for now he would just bide his time. Shoraedyl followed them for hours until they arrived at a grand mansion. He slipped into the stables and hid untill nightfall. It was around ten o'clock when Shoraedyl decided to enter the mansion. He scouted the perimeter of the house and saw a window on the second story that was partially cracked. Jumping as high as he could, Shoraedyl reached the wooden beams that made the foundation of the second floor. He climbed up to the window, opening it enough for him to crawl through. Like a shadow, Shoraedyl blended in with the dark corners of the room. The house was silent and still, the room was filled with jewelry and mementos. Perfumes filled the air, the scents reminded him of her, but suddenly there were footsteps outside of the room. The door was flung open as two individuals came stumbling in.

They were too busy trying to throw off clothes to even close the door. In the dark it was hard to see, but it looked like a tall man and a short pale skinned girl were the occupants of this room. As they cuddled in the bed Shoraedyl grew very uncomfortable and tried to make his way out, but as the man spoke it became clear.

The man said, "Ok I can't stay long, I have to leave, your father would?"
"Kill you if he caught you in here, again." Shoraedyl spoke putting emphasis on the final word.

The man jumped and the girl almost screamed aloud, they threw the bedsheets over themselves as Shoraedyl closed the door. Artazon stepped awkwardly out of the bed and shuffled over to Shoraedyl.

Artazon whispered, "Shora, what are you doing here?"
Shoraedyl replied, "I was hoping to rescue you, but why didn't you escape!?"
"I was a little? preoccupied?" Artazon whispered as he looked over at the girl.
"Seriously, you didn't escape because you wanted one last midnight rendezvous with Caius' daughter!?" Shoraedyl was whispering so loud that he may as well be shouting.
"Excuse me, but if you knew how much he cared about me, you would understand."

Suddenly the girl came walking over to the pair, wrapped in a bed sheet. Artazon was stunned for a moment, not by her beauty, but by her audacity! He never said he cared about her, in fact he never said anything!

Shoraedyl dismissed her, she looked offended, and went back to his conversation with Artazon, "Ok well, we need to leave now, or we will miss the boat back to Fort Frostmoth."
"We can't do that, do you know what this house is sitting on top of, Shora?" Artazon said this with a smile, he had a plan.
Shoraedyl also had a plan, escaping and making it back to the docks in Raven Rock, "Dirt, lots of dirt, now can we go?"
"No, ebony mines!"
"Ohh that's nice, lets go!" Shoraedyl walked over to the window, but Artazon grabbed his arm.
"It's not just an ebony mine, Shora, it's an unlicensed ebony mine owned by the Empire!" Artazon's eyes were alive with excitement, "We can expose Caius for the criminal he is!"
The girl chimed in, "Yeah, and Daddy has been kind of a jerk... I can help you!"
Shora looked at her quizzically, "Where is the entrance?"
She spoke with excitement, "It's a secret, you need to pull a lever in the cellar, it's located behind a lantern at the end of the stairs and um, and um, and um? it takes you into the mine, at the end is my fathers 'office'. And I want to come, its not that often I get to do things, usually it's just read books and watch plays and? whoo, I'm excited!" She spoke with an unearthly speed.
Artazon looked at Shoraedyl, who was in awe of how fast she spat out that sentence. He leaned in and whispered, "Don't worry she isn't coming with us, I will talk to her". Shoraedyl shook his head, "I have this..." and reached into a small pouch on his belt, he pulled out a small vial of a clear liquid. He turned to speak with the girl.
"Now miss?"
"Heatherly!"
"Now Miss Heatherly, I would like you to drink this potion it will turn you invisible, you can't be seen if you are helping us, ok?"
"OHH yeah! That makes perfect sense!"
"Yes, now here only swallow a?"
She grabs the vial from his hand and swallows the entirety of vial's contents in an instant.
"cap full of the liquid."
She looked at Shoraedyl and blinked, then at Artazon, her knees went limp and she collapsed on the floor.
Artazon looked at Shoraedyl, "That wasn't an invisibility potion was it?"
"No, it was a sleeping potion, I use it to get to sleep some nights, and she shouldn't have drank the whole thing, though?" Shoraedyl spoke with a frown as he looked at the empty vial on the floor, "It's expensive stuff".

Artazon picked up Heatherly and laid her on the bed. "How long is she going to be out?"
"Well, any normal person would be out for almost two days from that, but I think she will be out till morning with that kind of energy.
With a laugh Artazon spoke, "Yeah, she is energetic, you should see her in?"
"Don't even start!" Shoraedyl was still trying to assess the new situation.
A long awkward pause went by, where Shoraedyl and Artazon stared at each other. Artazon broke the silence.
"Seriously, she's wild!"
"By the God's, let's just go!"

Artazon was trying to stifle a laugh as he peaked through the bedroom door, he motioned to Shoraedyl that it was all clear and the two disappeared into the hallway.
