Mirelurks are horseshoe crabs to be specific, and although I have never heard of this animal living in this area, the mole rats seem more like giant versions of the Naked Mole Rat which is a hairless, burrowing rat.

Also, has anyone ever found it odd that scorpions are near DC to begin with? then again maybe over 200 years with the changed environment they may have migrated.

They probably mutated from politicians. Not a very big change, imho. ;)

If Dr. Li evolved from a female dog, what did Macready evolve from? Someone's pet ferret, maybe?

before the pre war there was alot of pet stores, so all the scorpians you see? you can thank the pet stores for that.

Spoiler
thats how you explain the albinos, well bred and ready to eat you.

wait wait wait, a deathclaw used to be a chameleon? i thought it was more of a komodo lizard.

*Insert Rimshot*

@Tman- In Herbet Dashwoods terminal, it indicates it's a descendant of a particular scorpion species found in DC pet stores prior to the war.

Spoiler
They are results of genetic engineering before the bombs dropped, so they are not actually a product of radioactive mutation. They were designed to replace soldiers in some high risk situations

^This on deathclaws

scorpions were popular pets at the time, and were abundant in pet stores which explains why they are everywhere in D.C.

Mole rats- From a terminal in the Citadel, were a government experiment to be bred and shipped over to china to undermine their cities. They were gentically made to burrow into almost anything.

Bloatflies- Mutated Horse flies

MIrelurks- Blue horseshoe crabs

Mirelurk kings- Snapper turtles

Giant ants- Mutated from your average garden variety ant.

Centaurs- Mutated FEV subjects originally created by mixing humans and other animals in the FEV at once.

Yao Guai- Mutated brown bear (or was it black bears?)
