can only get one add-on, which?

Post » Sat Nov 13, 2010 2:27 pm

I can only afford one add-on for the game and not sure which one I should get.

I would like one that opens up a lot of new options and items for me to have fun with.

My character is also an ex-slave contract killer who is moral outside of that but if he has a contract or order he will follow it regardless of the consequences (he'll give free water to strangers but blew up megaton because he was contracted to do so).

So what should I pick?

Get Broken Steel. It allows you to continue the game after it ends, and on top of that there a lot of epic quests to go with it (They're called quests in Fallout right? I never learned it...) You also get your level cap raised to 30. There are a ton of new perks to choose from as well.

I second Broken Steel. If you can only get one, you must get Broken Steel. It easily will get you the most out of your game.

...but If for some weird reason you dont want Broken Steel, then go with Point Lookout. It has the second best 'bang-for-your-buck' ;)

Without a doubt Broken Steel. However Point Lookout is a close second.

Not copying anyone else, get Broken Steel. It ads heaps of cool new things, even some hidden stuff.
If your looking for some of the best gear, go with operation Anchorage, but i would still get Broken Steel over it. OA gameplay was not that good, the only really good thing about it was the gear that it gave you at the end.. :flamethrower:

If you purchase in CD form, Broken Steel comes with the Pitt. Another CD, for a mere twenty dollars, can be had that will give you O:A and Point Lookout together.
I second Broken Steel, for the simple fact that it lets you continue to play on, forever, if you so desire.

Broken Steel is your best bet if getting just one DLC, I would emphasise caution on which one you get next though, Point Lookout may seem popular but I found it a very dissapointing DLC, felt like no more than a few extra side missions in a different looking land, in other words poor value for money. Point Lookout itself is also very small (looks big on mini map but it isn't).

I would recommend The Pitt over Point Lookout becasue of story line, characters/NPC's, and loot (some nice weopons but especially armor - lots of new variants).

If i had to choose one DLC, I would choose Point Lookout because you can get a Lever-Action Rifle, which is my favorite weapon on the fact that it uses 10mm bullets and u acn always get 10mm bullets.

Just save a little bit more money and then get Fallout 3 GOTY edition. It has all of the add-ons.

Yes Broken Steel. But the surroundings in Point Lookout are epic too (and the quests are neat too).

Point Lookout. It adds a unique new land, quests, and many new items. Step around Broken Steel by not completing the main quest, save it for another time.

hmm... I would probably just save up a bit more money (around 35$) take my original disk back and buy a Goty disk. That way you have ALL the dlc and the main game.

This. Seriously. Also, with Fallout New Vegas about to come out, Fallout 3 GOTY should drop in price.

That said, I'd recommend Broken Steel if you really can only get one and you want it NOW.

Don't get Operation Anchorage. It is fun, but you'll finish it in an evening and then feel like you wasted your money.

I'm gonna have to say Broken Steel since you can continue to play around and have fun. Also the level cap and perks is another reason i would pick it. If you get a chance to purchase another DLC i would reccomend The Pitt. Great story, it's fun, and some of my favorite gear comes from the Pitt. Plus renaming Pittsburg "The Pitt" is awesome. OA feels like a chore everytime i play it though. Point Lookout is pretty cool kinda reminds my of The Hills Have Eyes mixed in with the Manson Family. Zeta is good for experience, but like OA it feels like a chore after playing it so many times.

If your doing just missions you will probably spend 2-3 hours at the most on either of the DLC. Otherwise you may be able to get a few more hours out of Broken Steel, The Pitt, and Point Lookout.
