Expansions...

Post » Sun Nov 14, 2010 5:46 pm

I am quite new to Fallout 3 but lovin' it...so I would like to buy the expansions...I like my boxes cos they look nice on a shelf...so which would be the best choice?

Broken Steel / Point Lookout or The Pitt / OA?

I have the non-GOTY version of FO3..If I buy the GOTY version will my game run as normal, including saves or should I reinstall the whole thing? (I'm lousy with IT stuff)

Thanks!!

I haven't played the expansions yet but I bought the Goty for Xbox360, I recommend getting it as it's a nice package for a good price. Depends if you want to pay for another FO3 with Goty tho.

You can just install the Goty and keep playing, it won't ruin any saves.

Broken Steel and Point Lookout are the best, IMO.

Broken Steel; because level cap raise, and MQ continuation.

Point Lookout; because awesome new location to explore, new weapons, armor, etc.

Ok, cheers guys...

Ante - the GOTY version is 16.99 the expansion with Broken Steel / Point Lookout is 12:49...So not much of a difference, but some of the other expansions got quite bad reviews.

"You can just install the Goty and keep playing, it won't ruin any saves"....So you have to delete the old one? (I really don't know...PCs are run by magic to me!)

I don't know about PC, but I assume that the integration is the same cross-platform. When I purchased BS and PL on one disc to update my non-GOTY as well, I installed the add-ons, and I was able to use my old saves, as the dlc is now a part of your current game. You will receive messages about new quests and locations. The best part of BS is that it lets you play indefinitely. The non-GOTY has a definite ending.

Buy all of them! I was most dissapointed at point lookout due to "cheap" graphics and it looked like a hasty job, but still; Buy it, it`s worth the money :D

A mediocre review of ANY expansions of FO3 is like any other game getting a 5-star review. IMO you can't go wrong in spending your gaming bucks on FO3 stuff... just plunk down your money... you will like what you get, GUARANTEED!

Broken Steel allows you to finish (sort of) the conflict without dieing. I say "sort of" because the Enclave is never totally beaten so the game does not have an end.
Point Lookout is interesting in it's own ways and can be returned to any time you get bored wandering around the wasteland or D.C.

To me, The Pitt's story line was rather depressing and AO was too much like the typical Shooters that have no freedom to go where you want and to do what you want.

If your like me, eventually you will end up buying all of the additional add on's just to extend the game.

I've played thru them all over 5 times and Mothership Zeta is the only one I don't often replay.

If you're thinking of getting the GOTY edition, get that instead. It's a few bucks more than the other two expansion sets, but actually will cost you less if you're planning on getting both at some point later on.

Also, don't worry about your saves. GOTY/Expansions are fully compatable with any saves made beforehand.

I've downloaded Operation Anchorage and know for sure that THAT IS ONE AWESOME DLC!!! Gave me a couple hours of amazing extra gamplay with a nice little bonus of access to a weapons cache that held rare, powerful, and awesome looking weapons and armor. I would definintly get this DLC!
