If there are children...why not have the offspring of animal

Post » Sun Nov 14, 2010 8:52 pm

I was thinking that the game should include the offspring of animals. It would be an interesting way to put a fawn or the cubs of a mountain lion/sabre-tooth tiger...etc. There could even be a variety of dog species...which would offer the ability where you could buy a dog from someone who has bred them and have a dog companion like in Fallout 3. It would be cool feature but not as popular as anything else. Plus the offspring of other species, like wildlife would give more life to the world.

See it's little things like this that get short sweet agreement from people that should be included. Yes indeed

i wouldn't either...they would probably have some sort different but unrealistic system where the cubs are of older age and can attack you...include homes of bears/wolves/etc where you can't enter but only the animal can and stays there for a while taking care of the younger versions, then a month later they would start roaming the land but i can agree that there would have to be an ingenious plan to make this work

I would love to see wildlife have offspring, but as it was say - I'll be mournful over having to kill their mother :( So unless they include an animal behavior that allows me to avoid it - for example mom staying with her little once and not attacking me if I go my own way, than it'll only be one heart break after another... I can be an evil b*** to just about anything, but not little animals, even if they are baby clanfears :D

Well if they do it like New Vegas, animals with pups won't attack you unless you get too close, they just growl at you as you pass by.

Yes! In New Vegas I always felt bad for slaughtering a Den Mother. I always slayed the pups out of pity . . . no more mom to feed them, harsh wasteland =(

I am sure this will be a feature in Skyrim no doubt. It is an easy way to add variety to wildlife. Hopefully they will have a very low aggression and will flee on sight though. I would like to see more animal dens with corpses to loot. Thumbs up to the idea.

They DO!?! OMG I have slaughtered so many animals for no reason (and little XP). I need to pray.

Maybe there aren't even actual children, since essentially, everyone is a child of someone, making them children.... :P

some dragon whelps would be pretty epic! Imagine spotting one playing in the forest and as you approach, you realise that the mother is nearby!!!

If they were to do it how they did in FONV, pups and other little fellas would very rarely attack you, so you dont need to kill them if you dont wish too.

*Looks at mother dragon*
What? I wasn't steeling these eggs in my hands, honest.

I'd like to see younger versions of the animals. It would be a small thing that could be put into the game without much protest from anyone. In that regard, you could have super old rare ones that drop special loot.

I'm guessing it would work if New Vegas did this, even though it was made by a different studio. Imagine what other species there could be with their offspring and new types of species...umm bear cubs, you could see the fledglings of bald eagles, maybe on the northern coast there would be the calves of whales...hehe whale hunting that would be interesting...

Agreed, but then I clamour for them to find a way to fit a pet guarling in Skyrim. ^_^

I don't think this is just one of those minor details that doesn't matter. After thinking about it, I think that Bethesda have to put it in. It'd be an amazing feature for ranger characters and it'd add a lot of life and vibrancy to the forests.

Spending half a day climbing a mountain, only to disturb a litter of sabretooth cubs, then being chased all the way back to town by an angry mum :)

Im all for it

Gosh, I hope not. I am still broken hearted about killing a wolf in New Vegas and finding her litter of wolfpups after the fact.

If there are any dragon eggs that would make for a good way to bait a dragon to an enclosed location or something. So that you have a much better chance to kill it... But as for wolves and other animals if they have pups and the such then there needs to be better animal AI so that they don't all attack you on sight and such.

Oh yes and slightly off topic but wolves should only attack in packs of three or more. No more one on one encounters like in Oblivion where you just slap it with a mace and it falls over.... That got old.
