Enclave Advanced Power Armor Mark II

Post » Mon Nov 15, 2010 7:01 am

What I don't understand is why do the BoS talk so jeleously about the Enclave's Adv. Mark II if it has the same DR as their PA? It also has worse benefits, sure there's half the agility penalty, but really?

Do you agree with it?
Disagree with it?
Love it?
Hate it?
Ignore it?

Please post, I find myself enthralled...

It is a bit silly yes, I chalk it up to most of them originally assuming that it's the same model they were using in Fallout 2 which was superior to the T-51b.

It's a gameplay matter. In Fallout 2 it was rather easy to avoid hostile contact with the Enclave, but not quite so in Fallout 3. And if APAII was as powerful in Fallout 3, it would be almost impossible to take out even a small squad of Enclave unless you have late-game weapons and armor.

I know right? An armor more than 200 years old that can't break? And it's and older model than the APA Mk II?!

I made a mode to resolve my issues with this. I called it,

"Amped up Power Armor!"
"Make yourself a walking tank!"

Makes you almost completely invinsible while in perfect condition power armor. I also made Enclave and the Brotherhood have really good condition armor so they put up a good fight. Makes the battles with enclave less going for cover and more running and gunning!

The battles take a minute longer than before.

Well, to be fair, the winterized power armor has just been collecting dust for 200 years, wheras the power armors of the outside world has been through a lot of wear (a singe power armor may have passed hands a dozens times already and been patched up with what limited resources there has been), so maybe it's easier to explain it's amazing state that way. As far as the Enslaves armor goes.. Was it not stated somewhere that the Enclaves armor is, in fact, often worse than the t-51b armor and only in a few cases actually superior to it and even then not very much so?

Nothing about Power Armor in FO3 makes much sense. I don't think it even deserves to be called Power Armor. I just ignored all comments about it.
