You've been modding Oblivion for too long when...

You take a break from modding to write in a thread about how you mod too much.

When you begin to think that it's very likely these hilarious comments could be scripted and voiced in a pub for a mod.

Oh yes please!

When you want to redecorate the interiors of ALL the buildings in Tamriel.

I've been messing with mods for awhile now and this is one of the funniest forum threads I've ever seen because it's all true. I actually thought today what AI package people are running on when I was driving to the store to get my grandma her meds. A guy had sped past us all rather recklessly and I thought about him being on a colliding grid path. HAHA

I too was also noticing the texturing of the rock garden outside today, the sidewalks and the roads. Weird... Been working on my own realm for awhile. That'll do it.

Lol, on the bus yesterday, I found myself considering the LOD that I was watching out of the window. The trees had very nice billboards.

When, in your sleep, you figure out the answer to whatever your having problems with in the CS or Blender, etc.

To me it always happens in the shower. Whenever I'm stuck with something in the CS, I'll think of a way to solve it during an inspirational showering. :P

Or I make up new stuff for a planned TES V mod, which I never really write down...

When you have a friend come visit and make plans to take pictures of each other in the outdoors because you live so far away and instead, you take pictures of the terrain because it's perfect for the new textures you're working on. That's low

:D

My issue is the reverse.. I end up on grand occasion having a nightmare that involves a problem that doesn't even exist with my mod.. When I awake I find myself contemplating the issue that I was contemplating in my little *nightmare*.. only to find it's completely irreverent, and no issue at all.. but apparently.. my *subdued* mind while asleep felt it was an issue :P

A few more..

When you are wanting to start up your web browser and strangely find yourself staring at the construction set loading

When you feel like if you open the Cs one more time tonight.. it is possible the Cs has the ability to turn your body into 10,000 tiny little molecular balls and then scatter them across the room..

When you've modded your bedroom to excruciating detail, just to remind you what it looks like.

When you reject a viable modding resource because it isn't setup around a standard module size, and decide that it's easier to do something similar to what you need from scratch than to try and play around with an unusual gridsnap or insert point.

When you've started wondering what Tamriel might look like if it were done in the Oblivion plane style... And begin to consider how to start the transformation without having to go cell by cell.

When you've modded Martin with enough custom gear, spells, and packages to have him save his own damn kingdom (because we all know that you won't be going much further than kvatch).

When you've considered outsourcing your mod projects to India (South Korea), but rejected it because you are willing to work for less.

When you've been using your own mods for so long, and across multiple installs that you forget that they aren't vanilla.

When you find that a single 3 letter prefix for all your forms isn't enough to prevent form bashing.

.. when you realize how similar you have become to Jim Carrey's "Yes man".

  • Can you make a model of... Yes
  • Could you write a script for... Yes
  • Can you do... Yes
  • Can... Yes
  • YES.. YES .. YES..

When you are about to complete your mod, after wayy too much time spent on it, and during the final completion stages you find it harder to constantly fight off thoughts of more junk put into your mod than it is to actually do the work to finish the thing and get it out the door...

You've been modding too long if ...
you refer to your new friends as plugins.

You've been playing too long if...
you reply "you have my ear, citizen" to your above plugins.
