Mouse Menu Sensitivity

Post » Thu Nov 18, 2010 3:19 pm

Just like the title suggested, i have a menu sensitivity problem, and what that means is that when ever i open a menu of some sort the mouse sensitivity drops drastically. For example when im running around the world of oblivion jumping in the air, swinging my sword at trees, punching deer in the face, and trashing shopkeepers merchandise, my mouse sensitivity is perfectly fine in response to my normal sensitivity, but when i start any menu related features, like opening chests, looting corpses, shopping, main menu, pick pocketing, inventory etc. my mouse becomes super hard to move. As you can see this is quite annoying.

To put it into perspective, my sensitivity is set up so that one stroke from the edge of my mouse pad to the opposite edge, equals the full length of my monitor perfectly. But when i enter a menu screen it takes 3 entire strokes of my mouse pad to get it across my full screen.

I have had this problem with all Bethesda games, such as Fallout 3 and Fallout: NV, but i svcked it up and took it like a man and still played the full game only because it was so damn fun. But with Skyrim on the way, i had the urge to play Oblivion again, and was soon reminded about this problem. This is not a deal breaker at all, but just a very... very annoying "bug", and was hoping to get the problem fixed before Skyrim arrives. Help will be greatly appreciated.

I have looked through the forum for any mods, patches or some type of fix, but came up with nothing, so i decided to post it myself to see if it can be fixed and maybe help anyone else with the same problem.

Look for the setting:

bBackground Mouse=?

Mine is set to zero, and works great.

Mine was also set to 0, i tried changing it to many other numbers, even changed it to match my normal sensitivity, and nothing worked :(. I also looked around thru the entire settings for anything that remotely looked like it would deal with menu sensitivity and i had 0 success :(.

PROBLEM SOLVED :D

The problem was actually my mouse, I have a Razer Death Adder, and the thing with Razer mouses is that they come with a separate mouse configuration that also stacks onto your normal mouse configuration in your control panel. Since i had my CP mouse config set to max sensitivity i ended up setting my Razer config to the lowest sensitivity. And for some reason when i would use the menus in oblivion it would use the settings from my Razer config and completely ignore my CP settings, and since my Razer was set to lowest, my menu sensitivity was very heavy. While the in game sensitivity still used both settings and was still normal. So i just swapped around the settings and now have my Razer to max and CP to 0, and since the menus completely ignore the CP settings everything is all fine now.

I hope that made sense, and i wrote it out just incase some one else was in a similar position as i was.

Thanks to HeyYou, because his advice helped me solve that the problem wasn't my game software.
