My Townies Have Gone Mad!

I've just noticed that in all my save games, for some reason, about four out of every five male townie NPCs has a female name.

I sense the Madgod's scheme! :ahhh:

It is this way in any towns from any region? So some males are named "Chrystina Yeomcroft" and the likes? :P (Does this apply to the interior NPCs as well or only the exterior peasants?)

Only applies to exterior ones. Besides, the interior ones have the same names for everybody's installation of Daggerfall, so I assume the random name algorithm is broken somehow. It seems that usually the first townies I speak with have regular names, and as I speak with more, the amount of female names become more and more common.

I haven't checked other regions other than Daggerfall, I'll have to get back to you on that.

My bet's on the the Daggerfall version of the lisbian and Gay Mardi Gras, and those "men" you spoke with are obviously drag kings.

It's amazing that 12 years into its existence there are still new Daggerfall bugs and quirks being discovered. Then again, for all I know, this could have happened to me before. I must be a terrible elitist, for I never really take notice of the peasant's names--they're simply direction giving machines. I guess now I know why they're always so mean to me. I will try to be a bit more considerate the next time I ask for the whereabouts of Theodric Buckingcroft.

Hehe, I even treat the hostile unnamed humans in dungeons such as "Nightblade" as living, breathing denizens of the world.

Maybe they're just very, very ugly women?
