Ok, yeah, so Daggerfall came out more than 10 years ago but I still got it. It still is a rockin game but... I cant get it to work. Believe me, I have looked all over the net on how to play this game but it still is not working. The key thing mentioned is that you need to use dosbox to run it. Well I have done everything anyone on the net ha suggested I do, And when I go to start the game dosbox crashes before the game starts. Can anyone give me step by step instructions, omitting no details on how to get daggerfall to run on vista. It would be much appreciated.

you should follow the stickied posts at the top of the page they should have all the information you need to know to get it running and if that doesn't work you can ask here and I'm sure the others would be happy to help to get it to run. I'm not an expert so sorry can't help you.

Just so folks know you're not just plain crazy or stupid, I had similar trouble trying to get Daggerfall running on my roomate's Vista machine. Yes, I was trying to run it in Dosbox, and yes, Dosbox would crash, with some error code. I don't recall what it was. This was months ago, and I didn't make that huge an effort. But it didn't "just run" as it does under Linux dosbox.

Try running DOSBox under compatibility mode and see if that helps. If you don't know how, right-click the DOSBox shortcut, go to "properties," and run it in compatibility mode for Windows XP.

Personally I've never had problems running DOSBox under Vista 64-bit or Windows 7 64-bit, but I don't think I've tried Daggerfall on either system.
