Fallout Re-Animated not Working

Post » Sat Nov 20, 2010 12:52 am

I've installed FRA and it hasn't changed a thing to Fallout 3's animations. I've installed 3 times now. Did I do something wrong?

forums are not instant messaging... less than an hour given.

but have you turned on archive invalidation?

Another option is to use FoE to look for conflicts

I have AII and I don't really know how to use F03Edit. I can't even find FRA in F03Edit, anyway.

Did you unzip the file and copy it into your data folder? There's no esp or esm. If you play is first person, you won't notice your own animations have changed, only other peoples. You'll have to switch into third person to see the animations on your own character.

An easy way to check is to use a single handed pistol like a 10mm. In the original game if you walk around it with third person the player holds it aiming forward, just like in first person. With Fallout Re-Animated however the gun is held in a different way so it points to the sky instead.

Yes, I've done all that, and I've checked third person, but it hasn't changed a single animation.

Open:
My Documents/My Games/Fallout3/Fallout.ini

And change bInvalidateOlderFiles=0 to bInvalidateOlderFiles=1

Quite possibly-- the installation instructions explicitly state to extract the *.rar file to your Fallout 3 folder (rather than your Data folder), because the archive itself contains a Data folder (and if you extract it to your Data folder, you will end up with a Data/Data folder, which the game will ignore.... which seems to be what's happening to you).

Look in your Data folder and see if you have a second 'Data' folder in there. If so, go into that second Data folder, cut or copy the FRA 'meshes' folder you find there, and paste it one level above, into the real 'Data' folder. Say 'Yes' if Windows asks if it's OK to overwrite the existing 'meshes' folder (it is OK; it's only talking about the folder object itself, not the contents of the folder).

If that's not the issue, are you running Vista or Win7 and if so is the game installed to the Program Files folder? It's also possible in that case that Windows' UAC security functions are preventing you from installing mods correctly. If that is your problem, I would suggest that you uninstall the game and reinstall to any location other than the Program Files folder (many people create a C:\Games folder to install the game to if they don't have additional hard drives or partitions for this purpose), to sidestep UAC's control over the Program Files folder messing up their ablilty to modify the game.

Hope this helps.

YES! I got it working finally! Thanks for the help, all of you. It looks like I may be actually using 3rd person from now on.
