Mods That Buff Damage?

Post » Sat Nov 20, 2010 9:03 am

Hey guys, I'm having a little trouble in my game. If I'm using marksman it takes 15-20 shots to take down one low level bandit, and they kill me in 1 or 2 hits if I'm lucky. I'm guessing TIE is the reason, but for me it's just too much. My sneak attack crits take away, maybe, an eight of their health. Does anyone know any good mods that buff damage quite a bit, also, my character is H2H and it is incredibly weak, does anyone know any good mods that fix this? Thank you.

It sounds very much like you put your difficulty slider to the far right (very hard difficulty). If you do that enemies will do 5x more damage and you will do 5x less damage. So before you look for harmful mods you may want to check that it is not just the slider setting.

Here's one that just came out: http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=30533

I'm inclined to agree with Phitt though: it sounds like your problem might possibly be related to your difficulty slider.

Rrg I keep forgetting to post here before I head to sleep. I checked my difficulty slider, it's set at default. For a little more enlightenment on the issue (so you don't just think I'm a whiner) I use an alternate start mod that postpones the main quest until I'm ready. Problem is when I go into the sewer there is a lone goblin near the entrance who kills me in 2 hits. This is a regular goblin. As hand 2 hand I can't even get close to hit him because he hits and kills me before I can land 2 blows.

09 TIE.esp [Version 1.34]2E OCC-ULCH-Patch.esp [Version 2.2]34 Better Hand to Hand.esp36 arrwspanddmgfix.esp37 Killtastic! Toggle.esp38 Raging Fists.esp

I either don't know/couldn't find these mods or there is at least a possibility that they might cause a problem like yours. All the other mods seem to be pretty straightforward, but you never know. Try disabling them (for testing) and see if it helps. This is only an assumption, so it may or may not help.

Alternatively you could load the mod with TES4Edit and look whether any of your mods change a game setting.

Arrwspanddmgfix is a damage buffer for arrows.

Better Hand to Hand increases H2H damage based on STR

Killtastic is just a spell that makes it so your camera follows your arrow in flight. (Really cool effect when it works)

Raging Fists and Claws and Monk gear add some H2H weapons to help increase damage, still waaay too low to be useful at all.

OCC-ULCH patch is for Open Cities and UL-Chorrol Hinterlands

TIE is the only one that I know messes with different settings, but I wasn't aware it buffed difficulty to this extreme, at least I though someone would have mentioned it before.

Edit: Well in TIE's readme it does say that it makes combat more difficult. I guess I just wasn't prepared, I just got 2 shotted by a boar for pete's sake. Maybe I just need to get rid of TIE.

TIE is very random, you should read more about it before you decide. It?s clear that your experiences are from TIE changes, though.

TIE makes everything possible, meaning that at level 1 you encounter a level 50 bandit, and vice versa. The world is totally independent of the player?s level, as far as I know.

But I think many NPC?s added by TIE are inclined to be harder, rather than easier. The mod was designed for thieve-type characters that enjoy the thrill of sudden death if they are not careful, and focus on planning their attacks, sneaking around a lot and so on.

So it?s all down to what you expect from a mod - getting 2-shotted by a raging boar at level one is not ridiculous at all, because boars are NOT SUPPOSED to be ridiculous in TIE.

In Vanilla you see a boar, you say: typical easy enemy type. In TIE and FCOM and so on, you should be vary of anything, if you are low level, cause nothing is DESIGNED to be ridiculous. :)

Haha I agree, I think it was just geared for characters that use weapons as opposed to H2H users. I don't blame T.I.E I love what it does around the world, which made it really hard to disable. It adds a ton of stuff that I loved, and just one thing that I don't.

When I disabled T.I.E I still had my damage buffers on, went and punched a bandits face off. It was hilarious.

Thanks everyone that gave me suggestions :D
