Frustrating Freezing, and Unable to Return Game

To Whom it May Concern,

I purchased Fallout 3 Game of the Year with high hopes. I had it for PS3 a while back, and made the mistake of trading it in. When I felt the need to play in the wasteland again, I purchased the PC version, with all the little expansions with it. I want to say that the game was a dream come true on PS3. Great Graphic, wonderful story, things that similar Gunning RPG's haven't mastered yet. I have a new computer at home, with a NVIDIA GeForce GT 220. It is a Window's 7 Home Premium 64bit operating system I'm trying to run this on as well. This may seem like rehashed garbage to whomever in tech support reads this, but is there absolutely no way to make it perform? Within the first thirty seconds of intro, just after the initial movie, the game will freeze somewhere in that timespan. However for the time it plays, it looks great, sounds great, and there is no choppiness what so ever. It's very frustrating, simply because when I purchased this computer I had certain games in mind, one of course was Fallout 3.

On top of that when I tried to return the game I was unable to. Once again I understand your concerns, you can't have someone burning copies and just returning the original. Problem is, with this solution I really feel dissatisfied at ever owning Bethesda products again. Am I to understand that the game won't work because my computer excels beyond it? And that I'm unable to get my money back, since I had to open the package to find out it wouldn't work on my computer?

Please help me fix this issue. I don't want to be hung up by a stupid problem when your company has some of the best games on the market.

Hopefully,
T5

If you will read the forum description, you will see that this is NOT the official support page. This is for Gamer to Gamer discussions of PC Tech issures, and the only thing we can do here is point out that a GT 220 is basically a bare minimum graphics card that was designed for business and works fine with charts, graphs, presentations, and spreadsheets.

The only reason it matches the game's minimums is the great age of the engine that the game runs on, but you can't set the resolution higher than about 1024 by 768 and expect much at all. AFAIK, the game will attempt a default setting because it won't recognize the GT 220, and the default is all Medium settings, which are simply too demanding for the 220.

Thank you! I'll see about changing that.
