Recommend Morrowind Mods

Post » Fri Nov 26, 2010 10:34 am

I'm going to purchase Morrowind tonight via Steam, GotY edition. Just wondering what mods would you say are the best for Morrowind, or mods you couldn't go without. I downloaded Morrowind Code Patch and MGE but now i've got no idea what to get, or if i should get anything else at all.

If i do, i'd prefer to get mods that suited a Stealthy Thief which is what i will be playing, with ranged attacks ^^

If you guys know of any mods that are great for Morrowind please list them :)

I here google is good this time of year ;)

Have a cruise through the Hall of Fame mods at Planet Elder Scrolls. Always a good start.

But.. i suggest trying Morrowind the way it was intended first. Theres no real essential 'fixes problems in Morrowind' mods cos to be honest, its pretty awesome the way it is, and no glarring issues that need adressing.

Or cruise through any of the countless billion other topics on these forums dealing with 'new player mods lists'

Welcome to the awesome that is Morrowind :celebration:

Hey undeaddragon welcome to the forums. A great place to start looking for mods is by checking this thread here on the forums. :)

I would disagree there. The MPP and MCP patches (linked in my sig) do fix problems that will break quests and ruin savegames. I consider them essential and would recommend them to all new players.

Also, Pluto's http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1060141-mod-recommendations-for-new-players/ thread. It has lots of good information on where to start. (oops, as posted by Illius above).

Have fun!

Edit: also, when you do start to add mods, be aware that Steam has changed the file dates of the .bsa archives in "Data Files", and newest game resources are loaded over older (by default). So don't forget to re-date your .bsa archives.

Have you seen what the Code Patch fixes? Pretty glaring issues right there. :P

Without it, the Unarmored skill is completely broken unless you equip at least one piece of armor, enchanted equipment glows oddly underwater and in foggy weather, restore attribute spells would not restore damaged attributes if they were also being fortified, the weakest calm creature/humanoid spell can calm anyone of any level, and there are several ways the game can crash that can be prevented with the patch.

And a whole lot more. A lot of the issues are ones you don't really notice but they are definitely there and there's no reason why you wouldn't want those fixed.
