Are they called Sprites in this case? Is there anyway to edit Fallout content (mainly the art, adding new clothing, etc.)Or is it Illegal? Is there an editor?

Yes they are called sprites. Yes you can edit the content. Yes there are editors. No modding is not illigal.

Check the editors/utils and misc stuff on http://www.nma-fallout.com/forum/dload.php

Also check out the mod forum: http://www.nma-fallout.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=8

I'm not much of a modder but I think you'll find most answers there.

How do I get to the sprites? When I look in the core file there is nothing. Is it also possible to add quests aswell?

If you type in the keywords sprite or sprites on: http://www.nma-fallout.com/forum/search.php

in the Fallout General Modding forum, you'll get numerous of hits.

The NMA forums are your best bet to mod FO1&2, unless someone else wants to enlighten this subject here because I'm no expert. :P

Yes you can mod FO2. Have a look at the screens for our mod if you want to see how far you can push the POS FO2 engine (www.mutantsrising.com)

If you want to edit items check out this tool:

http://cubik2k.w.interia.pl/f2wedit/f2wedit.zip

To add new art you will need to create FRM art files, and there are plenty of tools to do that on NMA. Have a look at the tutorials on the modding wiki, there is also a very nice basic tutorial on NMA as well:

http://falloutmods.wikia.com/wiki/Category:Fallout_2_tutorials
http://www.nma-fallout.com/content.php?page=fo-modding

Say helo on NMA when you have some idea of how to mod. The modding section of NMA is very friendly. See you there.

The sprites are in the critter.dat and the scenery and what not is in the master.dat /art directory. You can find undat tools on NMA. You will also need FRM animator to view them etc.

FO1 is very hard to mod. There are only a few people around with the skills to do it. You can still grab the art and what not out of the dats though. There are a few thread in the nma modding forum on FO modding. If you fancy your chances, have a quick search.
