What is the modding system going to look like?

Post » Sun Nov 28, 2010 9:29 pm

Anybody from Bethesda,

Is a construction set going to be released for Skyrim?
Will mods work the same way as it did for OB, FO3, FNV? As in being able to load loose files, or is the new engine going to dictate the use of a database?

Thanks.

DO I LOOK LIKE A B-... like someone who would know anything?

We don't know anything about the construction set, if it will be available to us or how it would work with the new engine.

it will be bigger than a bread box, or smaller, maybe both at the same time, or not
they haven't told us anything, we got the announcement then GI and thats it
I really doubt it wouldn't exist though, I mean the developers use it, they just have a better version

they should implement some kind of real time debug mode so you don't have to exit and launch the game over and over again...

Actually, you could have tried this in Meet the Devs, but no one will answer this here oficially.

The engine is designed in-house, so the construction set will be as well.

Theoretically, that could give them more ability to make features available to the modder, but I suspect there will still be licensed elements that restrict certain things.

I'd love it if the engine was built with modding in mind....especially with more room for diversity built right in.

Maybe they think the pc and console version should be similar and they dont include modding?

About as much chance of that as them taking up Russian Roulette for a hobby. With an automatic.

I'm pretty sure we caught a glimpse of the UI for what Todd called the "Creation Kit" in the behind the scenes video. It looked somewhat similar to the Construction Set UI, although it was blurry.

The level designer in the cubicle was working on this.
