I heard there might possibly be a Fallout 3 movie directed by Quinten Tarintino, or not. Any info on that?

Thank's,

Eh, I'd say someone's pulling your leg.

A while back a group started production on a post apocalyptic movie titled "Fallout." Some people speculated that this was an official Fallout film and when Bethesda trademarked the Fallout franchise for film and TV rumors started to fly: some felt this was evidence that the film was official, others felt it was evidence to the contrary.

Given that the movie changed its titled to http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1535616/ shortly thereafter it looks like Bethesda was just protecting their brand. Eventually it looked like things died down with the rumor mill but I guess someone decided to have a little fun at your expense.

Quinten Tarintino also seems to have a full plate at the moment. Not only does he have Kill Bill volume three in production but he has several other films he's involved with in one capacity or another. A Fallout movie also doesn't seem his style if you ask me.

Well... a couple of years ago I would have said that a WW2 movie was not his style but he pulled that off wonderfully - faaaar better than most in my opinion.
A film with the raw, dry, brutal violence that Fallout advocates seems to be right down his alley, post apocalyptic or not.

Nevertheless I find it extremely unlikely that such a celebrated director would be willing to yield to the marketing department of a game company to advertise their game and cash-in on its current success.

The possibility of a Fallout movie being made at some point might be completely realistic, but people who want it should not expect that it would be made by a director that holds a Palme d'Or.

Quentin Tarantino certainly doesn't shy away from violence and gore, but I was thinking more about the strong 70s style that pervades so much of his work. I just don't see that lining up well with the Fallout setting so either the Fallout style would have to be changed or Tarantino would have to drop/modify much of his style.

It could work, but I don't think it would be likely to work. :)

Ahh, that's a shame. It's also a shame that some people dont have anything better to do than spread rumors (Even though that particular one was not offensive)

I disagree, actually. The reason bieng that Tarontino just released Inglorious Bastards, and it's set in a past time.

Good god the last thing we need is another Post apocalyptic movie, the market has been saturated, Book of Eli, th Road, and a million others.

I think, mostly because Ive put together a formated pilot and plot synopsis (But cant find where to pitch it to Betheseda *cough*), a TV series would be the best.

While yes you might lose the gore, that wasnt what makes Fallout, its the quirky 50s, sci fi, horror, and post apocalyptic feel also the randomness the feeling of wandering. I think that specifically the randomness is something that could be expressed much better in a TV serial. My angle is a random 15 sec intro of each episode featuring well something random maybe it has to do with the plot maybe not.

i.e.

The protagonist coming upon a dead whale and a tulip in the middle of the wasteland.

A little girl being chased by canibals and a robot named Mr. Rivets apearing and defending her.

Also there is really only been one show, Jericho which has little of the strong stylish feel of Fallout or the rich source of plots recently. And the Xfiles timeslot is just begging for another gritty sci fi horror show, I mean fringe trys to be Xfiles to badly to be its true successor. Also Xfiles got away with a good amount of gore due to its later time slot.

The Mod put it perfectly, Quentin is 70's style, if you think Inglorious Basterds isnt, think about Samuel Jacksons voice overs. If there was a Fallout Movie, my pick would be me my second pick would be the Cohen Brothers.

No. Ewe Boll is doing the fallout movie. Also, the word Gullible isn't listed in the dictionary.

Ugh... Quentin Tarantino is awful... Easily one of the most over-rated, under talented filmmakers I could think of....
His best movies (Pulp Fiction and Resevoir Dogs) are rip offs of one another and everything else he does reeks of arrogant film afficiando-ism; "Oh I was definitely inspired by 'Obscure Kung Fu Movie X'.... What you haven't seen it... Well a real film fan would have."
That being said... a mini-series on a channel like HBO, where the violence and advlt situations could be portrayed properly, would be the only way Fallout 'movie' would work in my opinion....
