My Blender Questions

Post » Mon Nov 29, 2010 2:27 pm

I made this thread for whenever I am having small problems with things in Blender. So I will probably reuse this...

First question. How do I edit the selection box which appears in the CS with Blender? I think I've done it before, but now I can't remember how...

Thanks Nicholiathan, but I'm having trouble using that page to help with my problem. Here's what's going on.

I get http://i489.photobucket.com/albums/rr256/ericthered1090/thecs.jpg in the CS. That is the object there in the middle of the selection box. But I can't find that to edit in http://i489.photobucket.com/albums/rr256/ericthered1090/blender.jpg.

Have you accidently joined collision and figure? Looks like Azura is set to wireframe. Change Draw type back to shaded and all should be fine. You find the draw panel in the Object Buttons (F7)!!! ;)

No, I just switched the bound on for comparison, she looks perfectly normal in shaded view. I just need to scale down that obnoxiously enormous selection box in the CS.

Ah, I see!!! The giant selection box is a result of scaling down a model without applying scale on it afterwards. Try Ctrl+A, first option!!! ;)

I did the scaling in Nifskope. I tried to apply the scaling in blender but it didn't change anything in the CS. Am I doing it wrong? Do I need to redo it in blender?

what the daywalker suggested you should work. Make sure you apply scale and rotation on any object that has been scaled, and export the model.
If you have done it with no result, share the blender file, so we can have a look at it.

I tried applying the scale with the mesh and it had no effect. http://rapidshare.com/files/417279247/md_daedralord_staff_AZ.nif

However, I remade the mesh using only blender. No Nifskope. And it works fine. But I made about ten of these and really don't want to remake all of them, no matter how simple they are... so if this can be fixed on the old meshes, that'd be great!

Thanks.

ok.

Import this nif file in blender. Zoom it, and you'll notice a little item made by 3 arrows, under Azura's feet. This item has been scaled down, and Azura is linked to it. This kind of items are not influenced by Ctrl + A.

Delete that item, and Azura's Statue will return to its original size and rotation. Now, rotate and scale it as you wish. Apply Scale and Rotation to it (Ctrl + A). Export it. That is all.

There in lies your problem nifSkope always does that to models when you scale them with nifSkope. It's much better to do your scaling in blender so that you can crtl-A, apply scale and rotation. Arcimaestro Anteres has the right solution to fix it.
