The Struggle

Post » Wed Dec 01, 2010 10:32 pm

I am having a struggle. I am in the midst of doing the Morrowind main quest (which I surprisingly have never done in my five years of playing the game) and I am having a blast. But now I am also getting the urge to play Oblivion again. I love them both so much. But I feel that I can't play both interchangeably. Like I have to beat Morrowind before I play through Oblivion, or vise versa. I want to play them both, but I can't. What should I do?

I have this same problem. I switch between the two. There's not much time for either one, though.

Well, one can consider a coin flip (head = Morrowind, Tail = Oblivion, Roll on the side out of the room = get a better coin).

Or just make a schedule base that one week involves playing this and one week of playing that and vice versa. Worth a shoot.

That's why I didn't want to try Mount & Blade; because it totally pulled me out of my nice Morrowind phase I was going through.

I can't really be into two games at the same time either.

Here's something you could try, if you're neurotic like me. Pick the one you're more interested in playing through and assign it all the numbers on a deck of cards. Then assign the other game the remainder.

Then shuffle the deck and play whatever card you draw anytime you wanna play. That way you can play both, but spend more time on one.

What you should do is give OB a break because it's terrible compared to MW you need to complete Morrowinds main quest. You just need to.

Yeah, I know. Morrowind was my first TES game, and I've had it for five years, but for some off reason I never got around to doing the main quest. I do plan to beat it and the expansions, though.

The main quest is quite fun, I suggest you really build up a nice nerevarine and don't flub on it. Let the whole MQ experience soak in as your nerevarine's adventure. Don't do anything you'll regret later, make that character your unique nerevarine.

Do what I do. Dont make obligations to games. They don't love you as you love them, sad but true ;(
So next time your on your machine, just play whatever you have the urge to play...

This, very good advice, I do this myself sometimes.

Or you can do what I did when deciding between beating Tribunal, finishing my "steal every book in Oblivion" run, or other projects that don't involve gaming: buy Borderlands and play that for an excessive number of hours while you wait for New Vegas and TES V :)

I hope Julan is keeping you company on that quest. Man, that guy is awesome.

I alternate between the two too. Because my computer only has enough space for one of them at any given time (well, it only has space for Oblivion if I have a modded Oblivion installed). I'm on MW right now and loving it. After a while, I'll go back to Oblivion.

Life is good.

I do consecutive runs, not just for TES but every game series I play. So it can take a while, particularly for prolific things. The next in the run is the Zelda games, then I'll also be doing TES myself.
