Ok I've tried everything I could except for uninstalling the codecs to keep the game from crashing.

DirectX is updated, video card is updated, I've tried the game in clean boot.

I remember I never had problems when I had Win XP. But I want to come back to the game now and I even bought it again cause of a deal pack steam was having. I really miss this game.

Well anyway I don't want to just go and uninstall all of my codecs. So I was wondering if any of you know of some kind of utility program that can disable/enable codecs for you.

I've tried searching for one myself but the only ones I can find were made for XP or vista.

I use the http://download.cnet.com/K-Lite-Mega-Codec-Pack/3000-13632_4-10794603.html and it seems to play fine and includes just about eery codec you need -- Also when installing there is an option to have it repair broken codecs so it might help.

Hmm I already use k-lite. Also I used installed codec and even restart my pc afterwards.

The weird thing is that I set the game to high settings and it somehow fixed the problem. Something in low settings seems to conflict with the game. Only reason I found that out is that I wanted to show a friend what it looks like in high settings and after about an hour of play I go no crashes. I have no idea why this is but I'm loving it. Oblivion can do some odd stuff...... nothing really surprises me anymore. But, its working, and THAT is the goal. Enjoy.
