Epic bug plz help

Post » Thu Dec 09, 2010 3:37 pm

Hello,

It been like 6 months I bought TES IV : Oblivion GOTY on Steam and now I am facing an epic bug. Before, I was able to play in peace in Oblivion anywhere in the game, killing monsters or people, doing quest, simply walking in a city without bug. But now, I m facing a big one. When a monster come near you, it freeze like 5 seconds then it come back normal. When I kill that monster, it freeze for another 5 seconds. It's same when I start attacking innocent people and final hit them. I've searched on a bunch of forums and posted topics to get help but I never get answered. I tried to put settins on very low but it still continue. I take my fps with fraps and it show me like 15-18 when I am playing. I can't record video and put it on Youtube because fraps fail when the bug is here. My computer is very performant and my graph card too. The temperature of my processor is normal (nothing wrong). I can play with Highest quality but I am not because I dislike. Youtube don't helped so much too. I hope someone will help me fine. And sorry for my bad english, I speak french.

Thanks! :disco:

Are you playing with any mods, or is it plain vanilla Oblivion?

Please stop posting useless comments and use your time to help me. Okay?

So...
How many hours I spend on Oblivion? I'm at school so I alot of my time is in my homeworks but when I have the time i'm playing Oblivion. How many hours played on it does no more bug. It bugs all the time.
When I started playing this game it was working well, without bugs.

Thats not a very nice way to ask for help, and with that attitude you'll be lucky to get any at all. The questions people are asking are serious and will help you to solve your problem. A DxDiag will give information about your system and the amount of hours is important because once you hit a certain amount a bug sets off that kills all the animations ingame (A-Bomb).

By "how many hours" they mean on your save. How many hours into this character are you? Not "how many hours at a time do you play?" Once you get around...100 hours I think. Maybe 200. Anyway once you get that many hours in a single save, the A-Bomb bug can break your animations. If that's the problem it might be possible to fix it with utilities.

If you start a new game with a new character, do you still have the bug?

Not just a new save, a new character. Run thru the tutorial, and see if the problem persists. Obviously not a mod problem.... so, its either a problem with your current saves, or, an issue with your computer. Have you installed/uninstalled/altered any software lately? Has windows installed any updates?

I tried to erase all my saves and start new ones but it still persist. I am running Windows 7 and it does updates sometime but it dont affect that bug. I have uninstall/reinstall like 4 times but it still persist.
The problem is in the turorial too. My computer is running Oblivion very good. I don't uninstalled/reinstalled any softwares.

I saw on the net there is a folder named 'mpeg2.ax' (something like that) and it says I have to rename it for 'mpeg2.ax.old' because the game don't run the new version or another reason, i don't know. I have searches for that mpeg2.ax in my PC but it says that nothing where find anywhere. :verymad:

I am very very annoyed because of that bug. :brokencomputer:
How the hell can I solve this problem?

He means to post the entire report by pressing the save all information and then copy\pasting the .txt file it creates on your desktop into a post here (that portion of the report has no meaningful info for troubleshooting)--- the reason for this is it will tell us what parts your system has and what Codecs etc. are in use.

The problem you describe is most likely the Battle sound files starting and stopping so the problem is most likely with your Onboard sound chip and\or the program that is set to play .mp3 files on your system (some programs like I-tunes will attempt to lookup info on the sound file before playing it and that causes the system to wait for it to open the file causing the delay you mention each time a file is opened) -- to test go into your oblivion.ini file and turn off music (bmusicenabled = 0) and see if the delay disappears ! If it does then you know where the problem is and just need to figure out a way to fix it !
