The words of Jauffre, or possibly Baurus (I'm sure someone will remember), after you complete Oblivions main quest. Given that we now know that the PC is a Dovahkiin, Dragonborn, and that the Septim bloodline was just one line of them, what does this mean for the Blades in Skyrim - an organisation that has always had a massive role in pretty much all TES games?

We also know that Max von Sydow plays your mentor, one of the last Blades. Given that he's a big name in a Bethesda game, I'd put money on him not surviving the experience (see Patrick Stewart, Sean Bean, Liam Neilson) - so where does that leave you? Rebuilding the Blades, the Dragonguard, Knights of the Nine style for an epic final clash? A revisit to Cloud Ruler Temple (pointedly placed very close to the Skyrim border)?

You are now aware that all the people from Oblivion's MQ are DEAD.

On a random note I just refinished playing through oblivion, and both jauffre and baurus were the only casulties during the battle at bruma :(

But I too wonder how the Blades will be handled and I actualy feel kinda sad that they were hunted down to a man after Oblivion.

the PC's mentor is supposed to be a former Blade. Also if the whole Civil War thing is Skyrim breaking away from the Empire then you can bet that their presence will probably be limited to a few characters

Not necessarily true. Merfolk lifespan, vampirism, restoration magic...

In any case, I don't think we'll see anyone from Oblivion again (with the possible exception of M'aiq, or his great-grandson) - but given the massive role of the blades in all other TES games it's a good guess that the organisation itself will have a large role in events - particularly given the Dragonborn link and mentor connection. The more I think about it, the more a KOTN rebuilding the order style questline makes sense...

From the description, Max von Sydow will have a big role in the game so I doubt he will be cut out at the beginning. Bethesda now has a much bigger budget than they did before so they can afford to hire big voice actors and still move on with the game.

A Jolly Roger instead of an Esbern would have been the [censored]. I mean, there've been few/none commanding women who aren't hot, in entertainment. Either way, I'm hoping Esbern's grimy, swears a lot, and he's kind of batty, as if the ghosts of dead Blades compel him through the task of setting you up for certain doom. And he's a bat-[censored] insane fighter.

Maybe not the very beginning, but I'd put good money on Esbern buying the farm at some point in the MQ - a big name in a Beth game, and an http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/MentorOccupationalHazard to boot? Perhaps he will induct the PC into the Blades (not a difficult process, from what we see in Morrowind and Oblivion), leaving our Dovahkiin the last one - tasked with finding other Dovahkiin and Dragonguard to protect them (the Blade's ancient role).

what does a pirate flag have to do with anything?

esbern is the name of a person, not an object... also, where the hell did the whole "commanding women being hot" thing come from?

first, i've seen plenty of unattractive commanding women in entertainment...

second... why do you want the last living dragonguard to be an angry, filthy drunkard with schizophrenia?

A bit more info from the wall:
The Dovahkiin is in fact wearing Blades armour, and the individuals behind him (speculated to be St. Alessia, Reman Cyrodiil and Tiber Septim) are Blades, sworn to protect the Dragonborn for the Alduin's return.
