An RP Idea, this will be my first TES RP.

Post » Tue Dec 14, 2010 2:35 am

Hello everybody, most of you who are just on the TES section of the forums probably have never heard of me because I have been in then Fallout section for a long time, but anyways I am staying true to the name Josh gro-Grahz and making a TES RP here is the idea, remember this is not the intro to the RP this is a basic rundown of what it is about.

The RP is set during the time of The Elder Srcolls 4: Oblivion, it will start when the Emporer was assassinated and the Oblivion gates have opened and with the war against the Deadra is unfolding another problem is coming from the west, a army of knights, assassins, mercenarys and rangers and many other soilders are coming to Cyrodiil to invade and take over and you must decide to either help them or fight back!!

Yes I know not much right now but what I said in the begining this is just a basic rundown.

Before I vote, I think you'd need to expand your idea. Why are these people attacking? Don't they have daedra problems of their own?

Also I wouldn't advise creating an rp that would split your writers, especially if you're fairly new at this - they're very hard to run successfully

Well I am not new to this..... I said I was new to TES RP's I have had many RPs in the Fallout Section so yeah and no they do not have Daedra Problems of their own they are from an Island far to the West Beyond Hammerfell, they have come to Cyrodiil to take over because that is were the Emporer was and that was the best place that they could go to.

Because that way it will be better instead of one war it will be two so it will be action packed! And really you are not going to run into much Daedra unless you are close to one of the camps that they have or you are close to an Oblivion gate.

Oh right, sorry about that, musta misread your post :P

What I will say though is that I recommend that you utilise the lore of the series a bit more in your back story, a lot of the people on this forum, myself included, will dislike your idea because it doesn't fit well with what we know of TES.

Well I know it does not fit that well with the lore but... I will try and stay close to the lore and not take it to far.

Josh, let me break this to you as gently as I can...

I've seen what you have been doing on the Fallout Fanfic section, and I think the mods will agree with me in the statement that you tend to throw up RP ideas twice a week and then abandon most of them after ten to twenty posts. Please don't do that here...

Also, your RP idea seems to be simply too vague to be a good RP - at least IMHO. If you want to see what the 'gold standard' for RPs is on this forum, take a long, hard look at the RP immortal blood has going on the first page of this forum, "A tale of two ...". Look at the detail in which that man plans! He is almost perfection itself - and THAT is the type of RP structure you should be aiming for!

Okay I will check that out, and the reason that I abbonded those ideas is because alot of the members did not even post and I got tired of it and I was running out of ideas so since this is TES there is many ideas that I could do so I am not quiting on this.

Josh... Your RPs are sporadic. I will give you some time here first, before I join. Write a fanfiction or two, this is not bashing fallout forums, but TES critics/roleplayers are much harsher on detail, detail, detail. Fallouthero and a few others if I didn't know better would assume they were TESians, but I recommend a fanfiction first.

Abbonding ideas is never a good one :P

Yeah, I don't go over to the Fallout section much, but I do hear a lot about how much more harsh we are. I would advise getting down and dirty with the lore, and then make up a really great original idea. Very specific, with a lot of planning involved.

I don't know about writing a fan fiction being a prerequisite for a good RP host, but if you want to feel free. They are really good fun if you get an idea you like, not to mention all the good critique you can get.

Also, I hate to be the bad guy here, but you really need to shape up grammar and spelling here. I don't have anything against you because of it, but it looks a lot more professional if you use proper english. I know that if you are a native speaker it's fine, but chances are you are. Thanks, and welcome to our humble forum :)

I made an RP very much like this one once. It was basically a cluster-[censored] of not JUST the oblivion crisis, but also Akavir invading. It never took off because it was buried in several other RP's and FanFics and only 1 person got a chance to sign up before it was noticed... I spent a few days planning it too...

Anyways, take the advice from these guys Josh, and remember that I too am familiar with your work. TES RP's are an almost completely different ballpark and definitely take some planning. Good Luck with this.

All you really have to do is take a long hard look at TES Lore, make a nice backdrop, get a plot, and REALLY flesh out the idea. Get that right and you'll have a nice RP.

One comment : if these guys are coming from somewhere west of Tamriel, odds are they woud forst hit the Summerset Isles, Highrock or Hammerfell before the Imperial City. Even with the situation somewhat messed up, barging in toward the Imperial City would mean very shaky supply lines - the Isles and Hammerfell have the best navies in the the Empire, the Oblivion Crisis makes foraging difficult and could play a merry hel with a supply caravan. And moving from Anvil to the Imperial City is a long way to go without reliable supplies. As the old saying go, an army walks on it's stomach.

If I'm right, Far West is an endless sea going all the way around back to east... so... where are these people coming from?
and, what is thier reason for conquer? Expanding thier empire from across the sea?

Actually I do believe there are some leftovers of Yokuda to the west. The map I usually use has some islands, many smaller ones and a large one, named as Yokuda, but I was never sure whether it was supposed to indicate the original position of Yokuda or if it was the remains of Yokuda, which could make sense because for a continent it seems very small. In the case the Yokuda leftovers are still there, there may be a chance they're still inhabbited, either by some of the original Yokudans who didn't flee for one reason or another or, far less likely, by some other peoples that happened to drop out of the sky.

If there are still some Yokudans left, then the plot may make some sense lore-wise if there was a recent population boom due to one reason or another and some would be leaving for the shores their ancestors left for. Or perhaps the land got even harsher over the years, forcing the Yokudans out; whatever the case, should they be actual Yokudans then I don't think slapping a generic fantasy culture seal on them is an option as seems to be the case with this invading army (without meaning offense for the creator, they do sound generic); Yokudans would have to have a culture that'd probably be similar to the Ra Gada as we know them but different in just as many ways.

Of course, I'm no lore buff and this is just tons of speculation. So, yeah.

This fits with the lore - the enemy might be the Sload. But we have almost no information about them, or about who is in Yokuda. If the invasion was from the east, there are a few island kingdoms, and, of course, the Akaviri, but we don't know much about them, either (you can make things up, but it needs to fit with TES lore).

I'm not sure the Sload would fit the scenario as well as whoever may be inhabbiting Yokuda at this point (if anyone); I was under the presumption they don't operate via such direct actions as sending armies, possibly because there aren't too many of them.

Yeah, I doubt the sload would attack anyone directly. The last time they just made a plague, if I'm not mistaken. I'm not much into lore history that doesn't directly correlate with a current story

Well, the idea is strange. If I can let my Lore knowledge come out for a bit, weren't Nords attacking a great house, (Redoran, I believe) with Orc mercenarys? Use that as the idea instead.

Thrassian plague I think, and afterwards the Sload got into some trouble, what with the All Flags' Navy sinking Thras. So I don't think they'd be capable of launching military campaigns, even if that was way back at the First Era IIRC.

I agree with ShadowStrike's idea; I think the closest anyone came to doing that would be Circlet Ignited, but that was Vvardenfell only, so it would be a pretty original setting with an underdelopped conflict that still leaves much creative freedom without breaking lore much.
