Javelins : V

I've mentioned this many times but no one seems to really notice or grasp it so I decided to make it it's own thread. In the concept art in the Behind-the-scenes video, there are two pictures of what seems to look like javelins. If they are truly javelins then that would open the door for the return of other thrown weapons.

If there are javelins, I think it would be weird not to have larger spears (2 handed) as well.

Indeed. And seeing as how it's been 9 years, Bethesda will most likely balanced spears in that time.

I don't suppose anyone has a link to the image containing the concept art in question? I've heard people talking about it but I haven't spotted it in the video.

I think we will get spears and lances (having a 2-handed skill implies more weapons for that specialization), but I doubt any type of throwing weapon will make it in. There's always a chance, but it sounds to me like Beth is just focusing more on improving the bow & arrow.

I don't remember them lying about anything. Mounted combat at that time would be awkward and they don't want things to be flawed if they can help it, like any good game developer wouldn't. Same goes for radiant AI. They were going for a more ambitious system but they couldn't get it up to steam so they gave us a watered down version which was still pretty good. As for crossbows, I have no idea but I didn't really care for crossbows anyhow.

I second it being a scroll, there is a third on the lower middle of the board.

However, does http://img43.imageshack.us/img43/675/speariv.jpg look like more like a halberd or a huge ass axe?
I'm leaning towards the latter because of the two-handed skill but I thought I would ask.

The second picture I was talking about is the one two pictures over from the Halberd (which I didn't even see for some reason but I guess I got it pointed out trying to show the javelins hehe) but I was meaning first one to be the picture in the top right the one above the "scroll". I guess they are scrolls, just seem to have pointy ends and it looked like it had a nice grip for a javelin. Oh well, there is still one pic that might be a javelin and now we see the halberds.

[only a] possibly of halberds, the body of the weapon looks a bit bendy and the top also looks like a giant smashy axe head.

Oh well, that's the great thing about speculation, we won't know until it's confirmed and when it's confirmed our heads will explode with happiness.

I actually think the weapon pictured is a bardiche

technically a polearm, but much different from a halberd. They may even refer to it in game as just "battle axe" but we'll see.
