Weary Travelers-RP Idea

Post » Tue Dec 14, 2010 6:11 am

I don't usually play a mage. I usually play a thief, to be honest with you, or, even more frequently, a completely useless but emotionally supportive character. ;) But I've already got a warrior in another RP, and I don't generally like playing them, and stealth-types are the general favourites.

If it makes you cross, I don't have to join or I can maybe come up with something else. :/ It's looking slightly overcrowded anyway. But the fact is, RPers come with what they want and then we make a story out of it. Otherwise, it'd be a fanfic and you'd have all the characters, see? :)

I am sorry if the char is no good.

Illusionary:We could use a rogue or their type charicter, someone good with traps and locks.

Dirk:Mages are fun, but almost an entire party of pessimistic, often angry, and very competitive mages and scholars would be no fun.

But that sounds really, really boring. :(

EDIT: I'll see what I can do, though. But maybe think about it? There's more to a char than they're skill set.

Actually I've been thinking of joining this (though it does seem a bit crowded right now I'm not actually involved in anything fast), with a character I have been thinking about for some time. A bard with a Dwemer Swiss army gauntlet stuck on his arm and another guy stuck in his head. He happens to be rather rogueish; I've been looking for somewhere to use him for a bit of time now, and this seems interesting. Of course it is a rather unusual character, but I have my safeguards to prevent the gauntlet from being overpowered, so I'll be trying to whip that sheet up if you'll have me.

Name: Alberich Red-Blood

Race: Nord

Gender: Male

Age: 34 (Looks to be about 47)

Birthsign: The Steed

Class: War Priest

Skills: As a priest who has dedicated his life to war, Alberich is proficient in heavy and medium armors. As a boy, he learned the ways of the sword but found the weapon to annoying, preferring to instead bash his enemies into submission with his hammer. The College of Restoration is his fortay, and Alchemy also plays a large part in his role as a priest.

Physical Description: Big. Loud. Hairy. These are the three things that describe this particular Nord from the cold mountains of Skyrim. He stands at four full fingers above six feet, and is very well muscled. Of that fat that is on his body, his broad torso allow him to carry with him not appearing to be a fat man at all. However, Alberich is no longer a handsome man. Years of war have given him numerous scars, and he is missing his left eye, the empty socket hidden behind a rakish eye-patch. His face, which boats a full beard and mustache, is bald in some places where hair simply won't grow. Alberich keeps his blonde hair short, as befitting a soldier.

Mental Description: Despite his fearsome appearance, Alberich is actually a very friendly and easily approachable man. Because of his very strong faith in the Nordic god Stuhn (known as Stendarr to the Imperials), he believes that all people are deserving of proper justice and mercy. Despite his northern blood, Alberich rarely loses his cool and goes berserk. Most strange about him, however, is how he abstains from alcohol in all its forms. When queried about this, he tells people that it addles the mind, and shuts out divine inspiration.

Weapons: Alberich wields a war hammer constructed of silver. This weapon is unadorned with any gaudy enhancments, abd bears no enchantment.

Clothing/Armour: Alberich clothes and armor often go with each other. As clothing, he wears a light green tunic that reaches down to just pass his knees. On his legs, he wears warm woolen leggings and thick cowhide boots that are stained with all manner of things. Atop his head he wears a http://files.turbosquid.com/Preview/Content_2009_07_14__10_40_39/1.jpg56929074-f9f3-4a27-b290-4ccfe4994dc7Large.jpg. He wears a http://www.drakyl.com/images/armor/hauberk-ab16516_bronzeLARGE.jpg as well as a simple http://www.medievaltymes.com/courtyard/images/armour/armour_gloss/briastplate.jpg. His hands are covered with thick leather gloves and he carries a http://www.windrosearmoury.com/zc/images/armour_images/mssr.jpg

Misc:
Alberich is left-handed

He is always willing to talk of his faith, and condems no one is they hold a different form of worship.

Is slightly afraid of women.

Short History: As the third child of a Thane of Skyrim, Alberich was given over to the gods to be one of their priests. Raised from birth with this in mind, the young Alberich applied himself greatly to his studies, both from the books and in the training yard. When he was old enough to choose his own god, he chose for himself Stuhn, the God of Justice, and was sent to Windhelm to be taught further of his god.

His years in Windhelm proved to be his very best. Serving alongside other acolytes in Stuhn's service, Alberich made many friends, and obtained the favor of his god. When he was twenty, he was given his hammer, and sent out into the world to exercise the will of Stuhn.

Well, here's a character I put together. If there's anything you want changed, or anybody has any constructive input, feel free to let me know.

Name: Luna Wolf-Eye
Race: Dunmer (Nord Hybrid)
Gender: Female
Age: 27 (Appearance matches physical age)
Birthsign: The Steed

Class: Pit Fighter
Skills: Luna is frighteningly adept with the use of daggers and short blades, to the point where she is capable of, and indeed prefers, to wield one in each hand. Favouring agility and speed in combat, she chooses not to hinder herself with armour of any kind. She is a swift runner and a capable practitioner of acrobatics. Finally, to the surprise of some, she is also a fairly good cook.

Physical Appearance: Though the ancient and noble lines of her Dunmer ancestry are dominant in Luna's appearance, as with all things, her Nordic heritage is evident as well. The long, elegant features one normally associates with the Elves are drastically lessened, to the point where her face appears nearly Human. Her ears are far less pointed as well, and she sports a pair of hauntingly pale ice blue eyes. Her frame is lithe and remarkably well toned, showcasing attractive curves, though she is slightly more muscular than she would like.
Height: 6'0"
Eyes: Ice blue
Hair: Light brown, worn completely unkempt and at shoulder length
Tattoos: The Nordic dragon Alduin on her left shoulder, his tail coiling around her arm down to the elbow.

Mental Description: Generally speaking, Luna is somewhat distant and reserved, unwilling to share details of her personal life with strangers. She'll engage with strangers in small talk easily enough, but reserves any meaningful sort of conversation with those she trusts, a trust which is not earned easily. She becomes far more boisterous while she's drinking.

Luna also has a quick and volatile temper, which is when perhaps the most terrifying combination of her heritages comes to bear: the ruthless, vengeful nature of the Dunmer, tempered by the bloodthirsty enthusiasm of the Nords. This can be of great benefit to her allies, disastrous to her enemies...and usually entertaining for any spectators.

Weapons: Luna replaces her weapons frequently, never staying with any set of blades for any prolonged period of time. At present, however, she wields a pair of well used steel wakizashis, sheathed diagonally across her back when not in use.

Clothing: Under normal circumstances, Luna wears a pair of tattering, black cotton slacks, with black leather shoes and a dark blue tank top. For times of travel and foul weather, she also carries a heavy bear fur cloak, thick and brilliantly white.

Bio: Luna never had the opportunity to meet her mother or her father. Raised in a small Nordic village near the Skyrim/Morrowind border, she was simply told that her mother had left her in the care of the Nordic population there when she was an infant, believing she would not be welcome amongst Dunmer who knew of her mixed blood. The small town took her in as one of their own, and so Luna was raised amongst Nords. Amongst Humans.

At a young age, Luna discovered she had a natural aptitude for combat, and could make a career of it as a Pit Fighter, essentially a gladiator of sorts. The fights were rarely to the death, merely meant to give the opponent a thorough thrashing...but Nords from nearby villages would throng to see the young woman fight; the Dunmer with a hunger for violence rivalled only by that of Alduin.

Now, having heard rumours of an expedition bound to be fraught with adversity, Luna has chosen to test her finely honed skills outside of Skyrim.

Not the greatest sheet ever, but I hope it's good enough. Hopefully you're a'okay with the gauntlet, because that's the main reason I wanted to do this character.

Name: Louis Angeville
Race: Breton (native to Morrowind)
Gender: Male
Age: 23
Birthsign: The Thief

Height: 5'9 feet
Build: Lean, definitely not the muscular or the regularly eating type; however, though he may not look it, he has enough physical strength to make it out of some more uncomfortable spots, just not enough to rely on it extensively.
Eye Colour: Brown, with a slight shade of amber.
Hair: Straight dark brown, rather messy and greasy; long enough to cover his ears, tied to a short tail at the back.
Skin Colour: Somewhat pale. He spends a lot of time under the sun; however he was born with the same nearly paper-white skin as most Bretons.

Class: Bard
Skills: He has a wide array of talents, half of which are probably not something one would want to boast about. Of his slightly more honourable ones, Louis can claim to whistle and sing pretty well. He has a lute, but is rubbish at playing it; not so much at using it as an improvised weapon when necessary, though. Picking locks also tends to go rather well for him, as does sneaking and blending in with shadier crowds.

General appearance: Louis is a rather average-looking man - he's not particularly tall, neither is he extraordinarily muscular. He carries himself with the weariness of a man who doesn't live too well, however his posture doesn't have any sense of despair about it ? he lives how he has to and tries to remain optimistic. The only thing out of the ordinary about him would perhaps be some rather hideous burn marks on his right hand, caused by the Dwemer gauntlet he is always wearing; however, they're covered up by it completely. The rest of his skin is rough to the touch.

His face is, as well, nothing too extraordinary. Louis' eyes are mid-sized and brown, perhaps with a touch of amber to them, lively and usually quite jolly-looking. His nose is on the small side, with some signs of being broken once or twice in the past. Lips are thin and quite pale, as with his skin. He's got a bit of a beard cropping up and a wispy moustache in the way of facial hair.

Mental Description: Louis is a rather friendly and optimistic fellow. Despite the hardships of being a bard and being completely aware of the fact his life is not much else but a wreck, he remains quite cheerful. His lust for travel is far from sated even after around seven years of wandering and that, coupled with his great curiosity, love for Morrowind and newfound interest in the Dwemer (thanks to his companion) can lead him to some strange and potentially unpleasant places. He is not to be considered naive, however ? having involved himself with some shadier crowds over the years, Louis has left many sugar-coated dreams about the society behind by now.

When talking about Louis, however, one can't not mention his companion of sorts ? Duremac Rolhtungz, the Dwemer engineer chiefly responsible for the creation of the gauntlet. Duremac would no doubt be different if the gauntlet had ended up in the possession of another Dwemer ? so far Louis found him to be rather uncooperative when it comes to the gauntlet and even more so when it comes to general Dwemer engineering, also overly cynical and spiteful towards the other races of Tamriel. Highly reclusive, by now Louis believes the engineer has even changed his behaviour so that no single bit of information would spill when he didn't want it to.

Tattoos/Scars: No major ones (that would be visible), a pretty big bunch of smaller cuts and bruises all over though.

Clothing: As befitting for a man of his social position, Louis isn't dressed too extravagantly. He wears a gray shirt that's rather loose on him, in fact it may seem a bit too big for him (though he claims it's for comfort); the shirt once probably used to be white, but as with everything in his possession, the quality deteriorated (though he has done an admirable job at keeping holes and cuts away from the shirt). Over it he wears a dark brown leather vest, which can offer some protection as well as a healthy number of pockets to hide 'valuables' in. The rather wide belt of a matching colour and material is put to use in keeping the black, slightly puffed Dunmeresque pants in check. Said pants are stuffed into his nearly knee-high leather boots.

His mundane clothing, however, falls short of the bard's most prized possession (and one he couldn't get rid of even if he wanted to) ? a Dwemer gauntlet, a tool that'd be of great interest to any who understood it properly (sadly it fell into the hands of one who certainly doesn't). One who had seen the great artefact Wraithguard could notice that the two are quite similar; however this gauntlet has a few differences. First and foremost, it has the tendency of attaching itself to the owner, and quite painfully as Louis could vouch. It also has five small buttons on the very end where the gauntlet approaches the elbow, as well as a pretty shallow oval hole. The buttons are used for choosing exactly what do you require of the gauntlet, and all the combinations are probably known only by the original maker of the tool; what Louis does know is that the gauntlet is an excellent companion for a man of his trade, being able to offer such tools as a lockpick or a probe.

The final and probably most important difference to the Wraithguard or indeed any other Dwemer artefact out there is that the gauntlet comes with an instruction manual of sorts. Representing the pinnacle of Dwemer engineering and enchanting (at least of what has so far been found), it was no doubt seen as a complex tool to use; therefore the original creator was, via some way or another, trapped inside the gauntlet to instruct any who would put on the tool. And while some scholars may see this as an once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to learn more about the Dwemer, Louis has found the engineer to be rather uncooperative when it comes to all things Dwemer.

Weapon: Steel rapier; he doesn't keep it very polished, and the lack of a sheath (instead he lets it hang from his belt naked) may suggest to some that it was 'found'.

Other Items: Around a dozen septims scattered all over his pockets, also a rather worn lute on his back with what would appear to be tried blood and teeth marks around some edges.

History: There isn't much to Louis. He was born in a small village not that far off from Almalexia and spent all his childhood wandering about the countryside, exploring and whatnot. Soon after hitting 16 he ran away with an insatiable lust for wandering and nothing but holes in his pockets; somewhere along the road he decided to become a bard, travelling with another one for some time before they parted ways. That was when luck found the hapless and quite hungry self-proclaimed bard ? stumbling upon a small Dwemer ruin, he found the device that could've changed his life for the better had he not been so stupid to just slap it on the instance he saw it. Now, with a potentially priceless artefact stuck on his hand and a Dwemer engineer stuck in his head Louis has been back at square one -finding some way to turn a profit- for about three years.

My sheet...

Name: Mud-Slips (Slips)

Race: Argonian

Age: 26

Birthsign: The Steed

Class: Pearl Diver
Class Description: He dives and retrieves pearls. For Slips there are no employers or middle men; he simply gets pearls and sells them to shops.

Skills: Spear (out of practice at the moment, except for catching fish), hand to hand (mostly good underwater), athletics (swims well). Also, being an argonian, he can breathe underwater (if that's ok?), more of an ability though I guess...

Hight: 5'10"
Build: Gangly
Eyes: Red
Scales: Mostly brown; blue on his wrists and elbows, the underside of his jaw and neck.
Scars: He doesn't have any huge slashes but he does have small marks from bites. Mostly on his feet and tail but also on his hands and arms.
General Appearance: He has a fin on each side of his head. Although his face is rather expressionless (except for a slight, unintentional, air of confusion) he will express himself with body language a lot.

Clothing/Armour: He wears a white shirt with the sleeves cut short unskilfully, beginning to fray. The most noticeable thing about the top is the belt stitched around the chest; it is kept tight to prevent the shirt getting in the way when he swims. It is tucked into a thin pare of brown trousers that end rather abruptly at his shins. The trousers have a belt and on the belt there is a small bag mostly used for carrying pearls and money.

Weapons: He carries a rather plain spear (he might swap it for something else if he starts adventuring). It is usually quite blunt from jabbing it in the ground while he dives. He doesn't have any special way of carrying it, just holds it point down.

Personality: He thinks of himself as a pragmatist, but will do good things without thinking about them. He enjoys being with people but isn't very good at talking with them, this doesn't tend to bother him though as he doesn't place much importance on words.

Biography/History: Growing up with his family in Black Marsh, he learnt to defend himself and catch fish with pointy sticks. He loved his family and they were good to him but he was an advantageous sort. He began to travel further and further away from home on his trips out and as he travelled he heard of other lands. One day, when he could resist it no longer, he decided to move away to one such place he'd heard of: Cyrodiil.

Ever since then he has been diving for pearls to earn a living. Lately he has been growing restless and has been looking for something else he might do.
