Contents of my mod have been deleted!

Gah... I'm irritated. I made a mod recently that includes a small edit to the terrain of Valenwood, south of Anvil in the Tamriel worldspace. This mod also included a custom race made by myself, which my main character is one of. Now, for some reason (after installing the deserts of anequina mod and the coloured map mod that goes with it), all the contents of my mod have been deleted, including my custom race, and I can no longer play my main character as a result (it crashes when I attempt to load the save file). The esp is still there, but just contains nothing... I've loaded it in the construction set and checked everything, and it's all gone.

First off, can anyone please give me some things that may have caused this problem so I can avoid it again in future, and also any way to fix it?? Thanks :3

Well, firstly I would make backups of your esps as you go along. I.e. make a folder, then put several sub folders (such as Edit01, Edit02) and then put your esps inside (they'll all have the same esp file name, so you'll want to put each one under a different sub folder to avoiding overwriting), etc as you make adjustments. Put it on a usb too so it's safe if your pc suddenly crashes (rare, I know, but it happens).

I can't think why your contents would suddenly disappear, but if I were you, I'd refrain from downloading mods in future and try to make your own. For instance, if you like a coloured map, why not contact the modder who made it and ask him his method along with a detailed explanation of how he did it? That way you get first hand knowledge plus you can control how the mod functions, which is useful for avoiding issues later on. That's what I do as I like 100% control over my esps and, so far, have had no real issues.

Ok, thanks a lot :) I'll keep that in mind. I didn't really care much for that character anyway ^^

How about the load order. Is the above mentioned mod loaded after yours?
