Patch 1.6.4 and Vgreetings overlap

So I'm reading the notes for patch 1.6.4, since I make it a habit to ever-so-carefully read every piece of documentation I can in this chaotic mod scene. It says that only the Bug Fix content from Vgreetings was added, and goes on to say that the full version of Vgreetings will most likely be compatible with it. Interesting. I'm now wondering what, if anything, is left in Vgreetings that was NOT included in the patch, and whether it's worth also installing Vgreetings as a separate mod.

I then emailed the original Felix, author of the mod, to see if he had an answer. According to him, he was never asked permission to include Vgreetings in anything, and was not involved in adding it to 1.6.4. Interesting. I guess that means this "Other Felix" that is referred to in the patch credits is indeed not the Felix who authored it. Interesting coincidence, but I digress.

Anyone know what was NOT merged from the original Vgreetings into 1.6.4?

I don't know what was included and what wasn't, but off the top of my head I would say the reason permission wasn't sought to merge vgreetings with MPP is that it wasn't required, because they weren't merged. I would have to compare this to two people finding the same typo in a sentence. That doesn't mean the typo or the correction *belong* to the first person to fix it. Someone could come along and write the same mod again and not need to ask permission as long as they did the leg work themselves. Courtesy might dictate giving credit for inspiring one to do it or even for pointing out the need for it.

If you really want to know what is and isn't the same between the two, I recommend loading them both in TESPCD and looking at it directly.

It's likely as Quorn stated: he only included the fixes that The Other Felix had in Vgreetings, but didn't include any of the new greetings that mod added. As for gaining permission, since does a modder need permission to include bug fixes? It would be one thing if Quorn included the new content from that mod, but since he didn't, he rightly didn't bother asking about the bug fixes.
