The beginning of Akatosh

What exactly brought on the "creation" of Akatosh in the beginning? I mean, if "he" allowed other et'ada to actualize, how did he originate in the beginning?

The stories vary but most agree that there were things before him. He was the first to find a way to last or the first that lasted. You could say that he found immortality. Hence he embodies everlasting legitimacy and endurance.

edit:

It fits in the pattern of stasis-change-stasis.

Before Anu and Padomay connected: stasis.
The first interplay: change
The gods become immortal: stasis
Mundus created: change
The Empire: stasis
The Oblivion crisis: change

Looks like we're gonna see some more change that will lead to the beginning of a new empire.

Is Empire synonymous with stasis?

Nothing else?

How exactly can someone be a being of both time and stasis? Time is constantly changing.

Akatosh repersents more than stasis. He's the chief of the pantheon and a sort of champion of order. So he represents endurance and authority, as well as that fundamental desire of the state, which is order.

How exactly can someone be a being of both time and stasis? Time is constantly changing.

Because of what was there before. Prior to time there was shifting, incomprehensible maelstrom of acts, beings and forms. Time may not be static, but does represent a shift towards order from that state. When Akatosh was born the universe became a sequentially regulated thing, and things stopped dying off all the time. The God of Time might favour stasis, but he can only effect this regulated change because of the structure of the universe. His perch from Eternity allows the Day, which isn't eternal.

Stasis, when referring to time, in this instance has to do with, as Albides said, order and authority. The directionality of the time and the rate in which it flows are static, and therefore very ordered. It is due to Aka's authority as the "father of spirits" that allows this to happen. His realization of permanancy, made all the other spirits that were strong enough to hold together permanant as well. This is the source of his authority. "I am" became "I am, too." Thus began the flow of time, as a uniderectional, constant force. I'd say that's static enough to be an aedric ideal. ;)

And then a despicable niggling doubt uttered, "But I am not..." and we get Lorkhan.

Oh, yeah. (I wish there were some way to make this read like the Kool-aid guy sounds, so just imagine that voice when you read it, ok? :P )

Sorry about the wierdness of the explanation, though. I teach physics to high schoolers, so it's kinda' hard for me to think of time-flow as a scalar rather than a vector. However, as I said, if you think of it as a uniderectional force, it makes sense. Time can't flow backward or stop unless the dragon's taking a smoke break. LOL.
