How to change appearance of megaton lockers

Post » Sun Dec 19, 2010 4:08 am

Have a mod installed that adds more storage to the megaton house and it replaces or changes the original lockers. I like the mod, I just don't like how the new lockers look and would like to change it. Now I've done essentially nothing with the G.E.C.K although I have figured out a few things. What I haven't figured out is how I can change the lockers so they go back to what they originally were.

I would guess this is rather simple, but not so simple that I haven't figured it out. Any help please?

There are three things that the mod maker may have done.

He may have added a texture set and assigned it to a new object in the geck and placed those new objects where the originals were. If that's is the case, then you would have to hightlight each locker in the Geck and hit 'Cntl F' then select the object you want to replace the ones in the mod with.

He may have used overrides - meaning he has custom meshes and textures in the coresponding folders that replace the originals. In this case simply deleteing the custom meshes would force the game to locate them in the BSA files and render them in the original form.

He may have modified the original meshes (.nif iles) and pointed their BSShaderTextureSet to the new textures. In this case you can do the same thing as the above solution, namely, delete the custom meshes.

He may also have done paertial combinations of the above.

All of this is at least intermediate Geck modding and shouldn't be done unless you know what you are doing.

What is the name of the mod?

Its called megaton house extra storage. Anyhow it definitely appears more difficult to change than I had thought it would be so not going to worry about it.

I looked at that mod, and all he did was replace the filing cabinets with different vanilla containers - like lockers and metal boxes. You could easily put the filing cabinets back by using the Cntl-F feature (replace) on the lockers and deleting the metal boxes and anything else that is in the way. Just make sure your filing cabinets are placed in such a way that they don't overlap with anything else in the house.

Tried that after your first suggestion of replacing them with ctrl-f and it worked. Thanks for the help.
