Changing how combat music is triggered

I'm trying to make combat music easier to trigger. I assume the settings that start with fcombatmusic have a lot to do with it but I've had no luck. I can't figure out how these end up controlling the music. Will changing some of these settings work or do the others that start with fcombat play a big role?

I'm not sure how this would be achieved, but it almost seems like something that might be hardcoded into the game engine itself. But I'm not sure.
