Oblivion Haterz

Post » Wed Dec 22, 2010 5:36 pm

I played Morrowind before Oblivion. Morrowind had story, atmosphere, and variety over Oblivion, but I think Oblivion has a much more refined system and is funner to play. Which is why I think Oblivion is a better game.

God, I'm so glad the fans don't design the games. It's called a sequel for a reason, it's suppose to be different! The TES games have all kept the same basic gameplay, but they change over time. The reason I hate the COD games is because they all play the same. Change is good.

I think you're totally right!!!!

A sequel has to be different! Not just the same game mechanics with better graphics and more skills!
The fighting and magic system are so much better in Oblivion IMO.
Nonetheless I like Morrowinds way of telling the main story much more.

But I got really excited when I read that Skyrim won't have attributes anymore.
Finally, a more realistic and natural approach of role playing. Learning by doing. Like everyone of us does every day.
Skyrim will tell if thats a good way :)

Turdlivion was a great leap forward for true RPG gamers for many reasons :

Less skills
Forced MQ
Fedex quests
Boring combat
Horrible AI
Linearity
Level scaling
Nonsense barriers like lockpicking/alteration at 100 that couldn't open all doors
Quest markers
Fast Travel
Traditional Beth writing
Craping on lore
Repetitive
Bad textures
Juvenile setting
No choices and no consequences

Less skills? How about "Less useless skills."
Once you're out of the prison, you can forget about the MQ.
Morrowind's combat wasn't boring?
Morrowind had more fedex quests if anything.
Agreed. didn't like the lvl scaling.
I like the quest markers actually.
I liked fast travel too. Don't use if you don't like it.

It will be better then Oblivion, face, it, that is not hard. bethesda took the best mods and put it in Skyrim, so it will be better. Oblivion is the worst hyped RPG I have ever played, don't care if you call me a hater, it was shallow, bland, and monotonus, and broken in a tonne of ways (levelling, Loot scaling way overdone). Only mods made Oblivion semi enjoyable for me. I could write better dialog then what is in most of oblivion. The speech mini game was an abomination, and useless was speechcraft. Where are the dialog option? Different ways to complete quests? All Absent, all very shallow and linear quest design.

The way you've constructed this poll just shows How intelligent you are. Another pointless poll in a another pointless thread.

What about all his other points? There is no reason to explore or level, which is a critical part of RPG's as is Dialog, consequences. All of these points oblivion is Terrible and I mean terrible at. As an RPG Oblivion fails and fails HARD. Its a good adventure game, with repetitive boring combat. Where is the dialog choice? How come I cant talk my way out of situations? Most quests are linear, you have to do them one way with ZERo options, no consequences.

Oblivion also has a terrible main story line with the worst thing being those atrocious oblivion gates. The AI is also terrible. oblivion is very shallow, 8 year old RPG's have way more depth.

The story isn't as good as it could be, yes. I don't think the AI is terrible, but not good either. Little dialog, choice true. With that said, its down falls don't make it a terrible game I think.

If you can't understand it, it's not my intelligence that should come under scrutiny.

There really is an option for everybody. Was Oblivion your favorite Elderscrolls? Pick the last one. Was another game your favorite? Okay, now based on what you've seen of Skyrim, do you think it will be better or worse than any of the above games? It's really quite simple. And if the poll is so pointless, how come it's been discussed for 5 pages? I'm asking people's opinion, not wondering whether we can get married to the dragons and have dragon babies.

Once again, I DO NOT HATE Oblivion. However, I think there were missteps, and therefore I complain (or "hate on") it.

The whole point of the thread is that I'm someone who wasn't too impressed with Oblivion, but I think Skyrim will be much better. How much better? I don't know.

I've always found that you get out of these games what you put into them. For me tes has always been 90% imagination and 10% game. so I like all of them for different reasons. :lightbulb:

Skyrim will be somewhere between Morrowind and Oblivion. Hopefully closer to Morrowind than Oblivion. Daggerfall it won't even come close.

IMO, oblivion was a good planned game. I tried playing Morrowind and the older games. They were too weird for my tastes. However, Oblivion introduced that midieval-like armour I never see in games. It brought me to like TES. So... I'm able to enjoy Morrowwind. I think Skyrim will be epic.

This is what I think, but I definitely think it will lean more towards Oblivion, which isn't a bad thing. For one thing, we know that Stealth, Magic, and Combat will be closer to Oblivion's, which is good, but I think it will also be as different from OB's as OB's was from MW.

There will also be things that are in neither game, like different enemy behaviors, crafting/cooking, etc. This is why I think it will be better overall. There was also stuff like level scaling which got out of hand in OB, and will be reigned back in. We can only wait and so how it all comes together.

@ Jim Hawkins - I think that's why my thread is a noble endeavor. Keeps the people who want to argue about that subject confined to one place. Y'all should be thankin' me.

Because people like to quarrel even if they don't admit it. Oblivion vs Morrowind is by far the most favoured subject of this forum. Heck, it pops up in threads where you wouldn't expect it to, but your thread is not one of those.
