A little mod inquiry

Post » Fri Dec 24, 2010 1:20 am

Since Im now going back into morrowind gaming, and am assembling mods to use, there are a few things Ive been looking for but cant reliably find after browsing planetelderscrolls.

On one hand, im looking for some housing mods which add balanced houses. I dont want cheatsy houses that are just empty, free-to-grab grand manors with all the bells and whistles. Im mostly looking for both small and large houses with some appropriate effort (or require an appropriate sum of cash), and the larger ones may well have library/alchemy sorter etc.
Ive looked through some of the listings, but its pretty hard to tell what works and what doesnt, without testing them all, and I figured before going through that effort, its wiser to ask people for their experiences.

The other thing im after is weapon and armor additions. However, things like carnithus armamentarium etc arent very interesting to me. Im mostly looking for mods that a) are balanced well, and B) dont just plop down a shop somewhere, but add their items to leveled lists, so that I may find the new items as drops and on NPCs.

Next, im torn between morrowind complete and morrowind crafting, are there any recommendations?

And lastly, is there a rebalancer for MCA 5.2? Ive used it on prior games, only to have my sorry rear kicked into tomorrow by unkillable vampires, or, in the worst case, to literally step out of the census and excise, and almost be slain by an angry dark elf with a two-hander. My mage wouldve eaten dirt if it werent for a nearby imperial guard. So if therse a mod that turns cities into safe zones and the likes, Ill reconsider installing that one, since it added nice variety to the game.

Thanks for any input. I should be fine with just the mod names, and also, thanks in advance for helping me out, I appreciate it a lot.

I can't help with all of this but since you've been away http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=563 has been released. And http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=7749, which is a great alternative if you're not into MCA.

As far as good, non-cheat, armor/weapon additions. Maybe you'd like some of these...

Armor
http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=6279 - armor is in a barrow
http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=7140 - shameless plug, armor is scattered around
http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=5541 - scattered around
http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=7252 - quest
http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=4698 - worn by head of Imperial Legion
http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=4158 - not 100% sure about this one, but I just think it looks pretty neat.
http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=2651 - in a 100 lock chest...
http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=597 - pretty sure there is a quest to forge this armor
http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=4043 - Hidden deep under Mournhold
http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=3508 - Awesome armor, which I believe is in a vampire lair.
http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=3057 - quest

Weapon
http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=8474 - obviously you must have keening, and then get it reforged...
http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=8361 - another shameless plug
http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=7051 - in Ibar-Dad which is dangerous and the sword looks awesome
Weapon mods are little harder to find to fit your request, most of them are either replacers, sold, or just sitting in Seyda Neen.

If I think of anything else, I'll update this.

Can't think of something global for the armor.

As for the houses, it really depends. I like http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=1660 - nice and cosy, especially good for Redoran character. But if you want something grand and fully functional, with alchemical/library sorter etc http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1068023-wip-pegasus-estate-second-thread/page__hl__pegasus.

There was a short comparision thread for MComplete and MCrafting on PES forum.

I use MCrafting because it runs better with NOM. It seems to be more popular all the same.

For houses I think you'd like http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=3408. It does what it says on the tin really, with 20 houses you can rent across Vvardenfell.
