Guard dogs

Post » Thu Dec 23, 2010 10:53 pm

So I was just looking over the GI article, and I noticed that in the shot where the players character is walking through the town/village, there is a guard approaching who is accompanied by what appears to be a guard dog. It's been a while since I've played an ES games, but I don't remember there ever being dogs in the games (maybe I am wrong). Anyway, since Skyrim obviously has dogs now, do you think they will carry over the companion system from FO3, and allow you to select certain characters/pets to follow and aid you in the game?

Some bandits in Oblivion had dogs, well they had dogs in their camp. I would like to have a vicious wolf and a raven as a companion.

That animal may be a dog, but it has a peculiar shape... notice the length of the neck. (in the GI screenshot)

There was a family that had dogs in Chorrol and you could see them walk around with them inside the town from time to time.

Nothing new.

Guard dogs would be a seriously cool feature.

Damn, I wish I lived in America so I could get the GI issue. Does anyone know if the article will be up on the GI site soon?

In Shivering isles, you could get a undead dog. It usually died pretty quick and didn't respawn. BUT, it was awesome for the hour or so you were able to keep it!

A dog companion would be nice. I think it would fit the series like a glove. :)

If guards have dogs, that could mean sniffer dogs to see through invisibility and disguises.

That's an interesting way to think about it.
Hopefully they evolved the guard and crime system this time around, and this would actually be useful instead of guards attacking you on sight.
Disguises and stuff, dogs'll see right through 'em.
