[REL] Less Generic Nerevarine

Post » Sat Dec 25, 2010 11:14 am

Less Generic Nerevarine has been updated to V1.21. (Edit - this replaces 1.2, and replaces a minor, non-critical script error). It can be found at http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=7380 and http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=23335

For those who may not know this is a semi Less Generic NPC mod - I am an LGNPC team mod creator/writer (for example, LGNPC PAX Redoran). The LGNPC project aims to replace all the repetitive Morrowind dialogue with more interesting and engaging conversations, giving NPCs some personality, making talking to them interesting and not tedious. The official LGNPC site for all LGNPC mods can be found http://lgnpc.org

LG Nerevarine does this for basically all the NPCs of the Morrowind Main Quest, if not already covered by another LGNPC mod. Approximately 70 NPCs have had new dialogue, personality, and backstory added, including but not limited to Hlaalu/Telvanni Councilors, Blades, Dissident Priests, etc. No new quests, but an alternate path to the "I'm NOT a Necromancer" one.

It is not an "official" LGNPC mod only because the LGNPC team has a backlog of work. (There is hope that LG Nerevarine can be certified by the LGNPC team and made "official" soon). Don't worry about this mod being not ready though - it was first released over a year ago with minimal bug reports (now fixed) since then and this latest update was to make sure it was ready for the transition to LGNPC. When it does transition, there will be new Blades quests added.

Less Generic Bloodmoon was updated around a month ago, and Less Generic Tribunal (Tribunal expansion) will also be updated soon. Their versions can also be already found on TesNexus and Planet Elder Scrolls.

If I install the update in a game which is already running the previous version, will there be any ill effects?

There should not be. No "vanilla" NPC's or items were modified. You should definitely use Wyre Mash to insert it into your game, though, but that should be standard practice for updating any mod mid-game, not just this mod.

One caveat - only if you have already completed the Yngling Half-Troll Hlaalu Hortator quest, there are a couple of changes to non-essential journal entries. If so, there will be a couple of "missing" journal entry errors on loading. Ignore them, and they will not pop up again, and also they will have no effect on the completion of that quest.

Thanks for the update. Morrowind wouldn't be the same without LGNPC (and your LG mods).

Looks like Less Generic Nerevarine doesn't like me:

Unable to find referenced object "de_r_chest_01_sharn" in script jo_mg_sharnTimer.

The "de_r_chest_01_sharn" container is there, but why doesn't it work?

Me too - I have the same problem. Does this mod need to be loaded in any specific order relative to the other LGNPC mods?

Version 1.21 has been released - see the 1st post.

And yes, Less Generic Bloodmoon was updated last month.

On PES it says it was updated yesterday, the 21st. I guess this was only an update of the description then?

An update of the LGNPC link, yes. The file is the same as last month's update.

Getting an error when loading a game saved with the mod:

Unable to find referenced object "de_r_chest_01_sharn" in script jo_mg_sharnTimer

Disabling Less Generic Nerevarine makes it go away. Seems to be related to Sharn gra-Muzgob from the Balmora Mages Guild.

People on Nexus seem to be reporting it as well. Any idea what the problem could be?

That's a strange bug, as de_r_chest_01_sharn isn't even referenced in jo_mg_sharnTimer, nor is is referenced in Feldrelo Sadri's dialogue (the NPC who starts this script).
Have you tried to set "References Persist" on that container? That'll at least make de_r_chest_01_sharn available to scripts.

Erm, is that a thank-you to ostar for updating the mod, or does it mean that setting "References Persist" on de_r_chest_01 fixed the error?

Edit: typo
