Natal Ideas?

Post » Sun Dec 26, 2010 11:37 pm

Do you think TESV will be compatible with Natal?
I personally think Natal looks kind of cheesy but apparently Natal has voice recognition.
Like, I wouldn't want to play ES by flailing my arms around like an [censored] (especially because the motion detection isn't 1:1) but, if done right it could be great!

Wouldn't it be cool if you could just say the name of a sword instead of using a hotkey or inventory
Or if natal scans your face onto your guy, thatd be schweet
or if you smiled, your guy would smile too!
maybe scan a texture to add onto your armor

it seems like theres a lot more stuff they can do with natal other than just motion detection

i want to hear your ideas!

I certainly hope not. My controller gives me all the control and precision I need to play the game. Forcing me to stand up and move around would make it extremely hard to control my character.

It would be cool if when your guy bleeds, you bleed.

Or when your guy gets eaten by a wolf, so do you.

I doubt they would FORCE you to use it.

Also, can Natal actually recognize facial expressions lol?

Haha, maybe. The only thing I really gleamed from the trailer was that Natal was not nearly going to be as good as the trailer. I.E. if you flail your arm in odd directions for a few minutes, you will take out a enclave of bandits with your sword skills and end up leaving with a bag of loot and a sore wrist.

lol. This would make that entire expensive system worth buying!

Mind, I'd love it if, in order to walk or run, you would have to walk or run in place! THAT WOULD BE AWESOME.

I really doubt they are going to spend time, manpower and resources implementing a feature that only one platform can use. Especially as it's still completely unproven technology.

Yes, it apparently works but will it be succesful? Or will it go the way of the Atari Jaguar, the Sega CD or the Virtual Boy?

You know there is word that Micro$oft will allow Windows Live titles Natal functionality, and thus PC gamers will also have some benefit. E3 will tell us that though, and it us unlikely that your home office has enough room to jump around in anyway, so the PC side might just end up as useful as the Sega CD.

Well, it is new, so it sounds good, but is it really useful? I guess that a control system like this would enhance the experience of a dance simulator, but of a sandbox RPG? Also, I fear that using a system like this would inevitably lead to further diminishing the importance of character skills and attributes and promoting the ones of the player which is, in my opinion, a bad path to walk. So even though it sounds KOOOOOL and OMG and I many other illogical abreviations, I still think it would help nothing and have great potential to ruin a lot.

I don't think Bethesda is gonna make a noob move with Natal like Lionhead obviously is.

natal should be an optional addition, i wouldn't us it all the time, but who knows i might occasionally feel the need to punch a mud crab right in the kisser.

Fable was an old PC game in the late 80's early 90's that was pretty awsome for it's time.

The whole Natal idea is a little too much for me. Using voice patterns to talk to NPC would be nice but why not use a headset?

What was there to ruin?

That game shares the same name, but thats it. It's a point and click adventure game, not an action game like the lionhead fable series.

Agreed and just because it seems like the best motion tracking EVAR , I doubt that Bethesda will put in the time to do so even though it seems like Mircosoft most likely get exclusive DLC first I doubt they would want Natal in it.
I see no logic in putting Natal in TESV when it's not for all platforms , but facial recognition ( if Natal can even do that) would be cool and could be done on all systems.

From technological and imaginative point of view.

Intimidation, persuasion and taunt depends on my acting. :P
Make a move and defeat 2 in one blow. :o
Kneel before your enemy and admit defeat. ;)

I can't stop my imagination when it comes to NATAL.(I dreamed this crazy battle scene with 1000 NPCs, in the middle you and your co, making Double Dragon movements, throwing axe moments, picking weapons from ground, switching weapons from your belt... Yes, I am crazy.)

But off course there is no way it could work this good. I've never seen any gameplay innovation for past 10 years except Wii and Portal.(late but nice attempt, Prey. And speaking of 3DRealms, where is my DNF?)

I mean there were few innovations. But few is few. Even on graphics department we have few leaders but at least there is progress. And AI, while should be the most important aspect of a game and relies on CPU power, never developed since. We are still there with 386 DX AI power. They come, stand, shoot at us. If they are melee, they just run at us and attack us. If they have proper line of sight, consider yourself lucky. This hasn't changed in 17 years of my gaming experience...(Bots better than Quake 3. NPCs more aware than Thief(1998)'s. Still waiting.)

Natal could be the missing link.
