Debating On Installing Fran's To An Ooo + Mmm L/o

before anyone says it, warcry does not interest me at all. originally frans did not, but I have decided it does look very intriguing.

I have already downloaded the .exe files for it, but have not run them yet.

I am going to ask you wonderful people, how much effort I would have to add it to my L/O? Everything now runs pretty flawlessly, and with pretty much no CTDs. If Fran's is going to change that, I am not installing it. I put a lot of work (and a lot of luck) into getting my game to run so smoothly.

However, Bob's Armory and Warcry are both optional to FCOM, so you can do an FCOM install without them.

I see you are using OOO Lite. You'll have to upgrade to OOO 1.33, which still has a Lite version, but not 1.34 because the Lite version for that wasn't completed. You should be using 1.33 with MMM 3.7 anyway.

I don't think you can update your MMM any further without switching to OOO 1.34 FULL, and you'll have to stick with FCOM 0.9.8 as well.

That's what I was thinking. Though I didn't know they were optional parts of FCOM

Well, upgrading OOO + MMM to FCOM on an existing L/O without adding regular CTDs would be pretty far fetched and challenging, correct? I could do it, I just want to know how hard it will be, and if it's worth my effort just for the aspects of Fran's I like.

I just don't want to touch FCOM because I've always heard even with a perfect install it CTDs pretty regularly. :(

Really? hhmm, well the two I am using now work perfectly fine together, and have no conflicts (even minor).

I'm content with the versions I have for my current load order,(I don't like messing with stuff when it's already working fine) but I will keep that in mind should I decide to do something that requires them being what they should be. :)

FCOM is actually extremely stable.

You'll find, however, that most people who have FCOM also have an extremely heavy mod load and are pushing their machines hard.

That said, it's usually better to start with a basic FCOM install and add mods to it, rather than trying to add FCOM to an existing mod load.

I'd start with updating your OOO. It's a good idea even if you decide not to go FCOM.

Check your other mods for updates. The UOP has a hotfix that I think you're missing, though it's "technically" unofficial (which is funny, really).

If you have the room on your hard drive, you can copy the entire Data directory before you start, and have a backup if you don't like the results.

edit: On your follow-up. If your game is stable and you like the results, then be happy. The MMM, FCOM and OOO teams work in conjunction and tend to do releases at the same times because each team adds/changes features to benefit the other mods. While OOO 1.32 may not conflict with MMM 3.7, it won't be balanced as intended and some features may be non-functional.

I back up all my mods(still zipped), and all of vanilla oblivion. My data files folder is around 22 GBs in size, so that would be a lot to back up, when I already have aproxx. 11 GBs in back ups already.

I am considering doing a new, clean install, but fear it may end up with worse results, with a lot of wasted effort, and no enjoyable game.

If I do, I think I will do a full FCOM.

My computer runs oblivion pretty fairly, I don't really know how hard I am pushing it.

And I did not think about the features not working and unbalance. Without FCOM in mind, how should I go about updating OOO + MMM lite? And I don't care so much about the UOP, unless whatever it fices is extremely, extremely important. I pay so little attention to vanilla features. :lmao:

Updating OOO should be fairly easy.

Just download the 1.33 update package(s) or full package. Then you just copy the files you want over the existing ones. There should be an omod installer if you prefer, or at least a script to build your own.

After that it's just a matter of rebuilding your bashed patch to get the new leveled list changes, and waiting out the respawn period somewhere alone.

Be prepared for OOO guard overhaul. You will be bombarded with 3 times the amount of guards throughout Cyrodiil. Some like it, I thought it was overkill.

I think that is a slight exaggeration, but I love OOO (and FCOM) regardless.
