So a little while back I decided to try my hand at constructing a fan art prop. I'd never tried anything like it before, and had been meaning to for quite awhile. Being a long time Fallout fan, it was sort of the natural choice to make something from the series. I'm actually an amateur luthier (stringed instrument builder) and general contraption maker (articulated back mounted wings, automata, sculpture, etc) and this project was sort of a perfect fit for me to step out of my usual realm and try something new. I also had wanted to work with MDF for a chance (I only ever use solid hardwoods, plywood, etc). Anyways long story short, I made a simplified version of the AER9 and an AEP7.
Pretty basic, but they turned out well I think. Nice and sturdy feeling. The AER9 is about 7-8lbs and the AEP7 is a little less than half of that. I'm going to try a Railway gun and a few other things after my midterms are over. Since you can't seem to post pics in the forum, the link to my site is below, as well as some links to direct pictures. Keep in mind these are slightly simplified versions. Lemme know what you think!
