So whats the deal with these forums, Bethesda, and it's mode

Post » Thu Dec 30, 2010 2:12 pm

I just registered on these forums and posted a topic where I described how the latest patch for Fallout New Vegas has ruined the game for me, and why, only to have some moderator close and lock the topic right away and post nothing but "closed for review."

Honestly, what kind of [censored]s run this place? Does Bethesda enjoy spitting in the face of their once loyal customers? Do they enjoy stifling all discontent? Honestly, I came into these forums with the intention to provide constructive criticism (which this game really needs) only to be disgusted and completely turned off by the fascist practices of this websites moderation staff.

I hope that Bethesda is aware that no good ever comes from stifling customers legitimate and constructive complains. If everyone took on this kind of attitude then nothing would ever get fixed because everyone would be too busy convincing themselves how everything they do is perfect and without flaws.

So whats the deal with this forum? Is this forum nothing but a place for Bethesda to stroke their own ego, or would I actually have some chance of getting my voice heard? There are way too many message forums on the internet that are nothing but a self-importance circle jerk breeding ground, I don't need to participate in another.

Commence Lock.
Also, closed for review means, they are reviewing it, and if all is well, it will reopen, I don't think flaming the mods was the best idea. Generally people come into this forum to flame the Fallout games, so after countless spam threads it wouldn't phase me if the mods just locked any thread of the type by now, be happy you got a "review".

In 3...2...1....

EDIT: Oh, yeah. Don't flame the mods. They're just keeping the forum civil. Obviously that is the opposite of your intention.

Lets start by adressing that New Vegas is Obsidian, and Beth has little place in patching it.

And a quick follow up that ranting about an absence of understanding defeats its own purpose.

To whoever is responsible, I would personally like to **** you, get a life,

Thats how you started your other topic, by swearing and insulting the developers. This forum can have constructive criticism, but what you were posting was outright abuse and whining. Next time try without the swearing and you might even have a decent thread.

And to join the bandwagon, commencing lock in 5.....

Flaming the mods? How does questioning the actions of authority figures = flaming the moderation staff?

See, this is the kind of stifling that I'm talking about. Ooh well, it's good to know that they didn't simply pull a "locked or deleted thread" on me.

After reading the aforementioned locked thread, I can perfectly understand why it was closed for review. I suggest you take a look at the forum rules before starting any more complaint threads. Perhaps in the future you can post your "constructive criticism" in a more efficient and professional manner.

As with your present post, thing with your thread has to do with the tone. However right you are, if you yell in the face of people, you can expect only one reaction.

I suggest you discuss it with the mods by PM, and maybe reformulate your topic in a less confrontational manner.

And yes, calling them "fascists" *is* flaming the mods. *shrug*

Just follow the rules. If civility is not your taste, maybe this isn't the forum for you.

It's one thing to be civil, however it's another thing to be a sheep.

Civility is a luxury for a person without a complaint.

snip

I think the reason your thread was locked was because there are 1000 (exaggeration...) some odd threads about the issues with F:NV. People join just to bash the game and it is really annoying. I'm not saying that's what you were doing but there is a lot of stuff going on in that particular section.

I'm a sheep, you're a sheep

Find a person and more likely than not they are a sheep to something.
Take a break, you've said your bit and I'd guess the more you go on right now the deeper you're gonna dig yourself.

You're going to want to PM the Moderator involved in closing the thread, if you want to know why it was locked.

But, we don't allow discussion of Moderator actions on the open forum. You are free to talk directly to a Moderator if you want to discuss something that's happened - we actually do read and respond to that sort of thing. But a thread is not the proper place for that conversation.

It's probably a good idea to read the http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/724862-forum-rules-and-general-information/, which is what we go by when enforcing this board.

FYI, this (from those Forum Rules) is why I'm locking this particular thread:
9. Posting about moderator or administrator action or inaction is also against the rules of this forum.

Please feel free however to contact the moderator involved, another moderator you feel comfortable with, our community manager Gstaff or another admin if you disagree with a moderator action. Our moderators do not mind taking a second look or discussing an action with the other moderators and admin to assure they have acted fairly. So if you think you've been treated wrongly or that unfairly, be sure to send a PM. Sometimes moderators make mistakes.
