Mod Install Questions

Post » Sat Jan 01, 2011 1:17 am

I'm trying to install All Natural and three issues have cropped up.

1.) Firstly, it lists the latest Beta patch of The Script Extender as required. Generally, I avoid beta software. In this case is it truly necessary?

2.) The installation instructions say to use Wrye Bash to import cells of the various involved esp. I have never, previously, had to use Wrye Bash in this manner and am wondering if this also is absolutely necessary.

3.) Lastly, the install instructions mention this:

DLC Frostcrag Spire Unofficial Patch

UOMP users with the Frostcrag Spire patch installed need to remove the incorrect C.Climate tag from their Frostcrag Spire patch. This will allow All Natural to regain control over the weather in Mages Guild interiors.

I have no clue how to do this, could someone eleborate?

1) Yes, the latest OBSE is required. The mod won't function correctly without it.
2) It is not absolutely necessary to import cells, but you will be missing out on interior lighting if you don't.
3)You don't have to remove the CClimate tag, just don't import that record into the bashed patch.

If the patch contains other import cell features, then it should still be imported (checked) in the import cells section. To modify bash tags for a plugin, right-click on the window in the bottom-right corner that lists the bash tags and check or uncheck the various tags.

Edit: Remember to rebuild the patch after making load order and plugin changes.

Obviously, I have very little experience with using Wrye Bash. In the past I have only used if for mod de-isolation purposes. Is there a tutorial somewhere that could explain this cell importing buisness and how to work with Bash Patches?

If you are still trying to not load the C.Climate tag of Frost Crag. If my above suggestion of de-tagging it in that window did not work. Look at the description of the mod, remove the C.Climate tag, save, and rebuild the bashed patch. The http://wryemusings.com/Wrye%20Bash.html is fairly clear, but ask away if you have further questions.

Sadly I don't think there is a good beginners guide to Wrye Bash. There really ought to be...a YouTube video would be great...perhaps I should make one...anyway, hopefully you figured it out yourself. Keep at it and read the Wrye Bash readme (long but informative).

I have wanted to make a guide for Wrye Bash and BAIN for a long time...maybe not a YouTube video, but something nice and straightforward. I am too tired to think on it much at the moment, but hopefully at some point in the near future I will be able to put such a thing on my website.
